Announcing designs of storm and flood resistant houses before December 10

The Ministry of Construction has just sent a document to the People's Committees of the provinces and cities of Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong to study the design and announce models of storm- and flood-resistant houses.

Specifically, on November 30, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 234/CDTTg on launching and implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign" to rapidly rebuild and repair houses for families whose houses were damaged by recent natural disasters in the Central provinces.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Construction: "To direct the Department of Construction of localities and relevant agencies to urgently research and advise the Provincial People's Committees to propose a number of model house designs according to the customs, practices and cultural traditions of indigenous people so that people can proactively choose models that are suitable for the ability to mobilize resources and prevent natural disasters."

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited a house completely collapsed due to floods in Phu Huu village, Hoa Thinh commune, Dak Lak province.

Affirming that in recent times, localities across the country have designed and announced nearly 200 housing designs suitable to the customs, practices and cultural traditions of each locality, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh requested that provinces and cities continue to announce and promote communication for people to refer to and choose, suitable to their family's conditions.

Regarding storm and flood resistant housing models, localities that previously implemented housing support policies for poor households to avoid storms and floods have designed 3-5 housing models. The Ministry of Construction recommends that localities continue to promote the introduction to the people.

The locality directs the Department of Construction and relevant agencies to continue researching, designing or reviewing and adjusting typical storm and flood prevention housing models, suitable to the current situation, widely publicized on the Department of Construction's Electronic Information Portal and media for people to refer to and choose. The design models must ensure area, quality, storm and flood prevention and have reasonable height, ensuring safety for people.

“The design and announcement of sample designs by localities must be completed before December 10, 2025 to meet the rapid progress of the 'Quang Trung Campaign',” the Deputy Minister of Construction emphasized.
