The 4th Congress of Representatives of Ethnic Minorities in Tuyen Quang City

Attending the Congress were Comrade Nguyen The Giang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the City Party Committee, City People's Council, City People's Committee and 150 delegates representing over 26,000 ethnic minority people in the city.

During the 2019-2024 term, ethnic affairs work in the city achieved many positive results; all targets set in the Resolution of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minority Representatives were met and exceeded.

From 2021 to 2024, the city mobilized over 8.9 billion VND to implement 10 projects supporting ethnic minority communities under the socio -economic development target program for ethnic minority and mountainous areas; and mobilized over 8.6 billion VND to implement 4 projects and 2 sub-projects supporting poor and near-poor households from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction...

With the theme "Ethnic groups unite, innovate, leverage advantages and potential, integrate, and build a rapidly and sustainably developing Tuyen Quang city," the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minority Representatives of Tuyen Quang city has set forth 7 specific goals, 9 main tasks and solutions, and 5 solutions to focus on implementing during the 2024-2029 term.

Specifically, the goals include striving to reduce the number of poor ethnic minority households by 20% annually, based on the total number of poor ethnic minority households in the year; ensuring 100% of households have access to television; ensuring 100% of health stations meet national standards and have doctors working there; and ensuring 70% of working-age ethnic minority people receive training and education.

Speaking at the Congress, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen The Giang praised, acknowledged, and congratulated the achievements that the Party Committee, government, and ethnic minority people of the city have made.

The comrade suggested that in the coming period, the city should continue to fully, promptly, and effectively implement policies for influential people, poor households, ethnic minorities, religious organizations, dignitaries, and followers, which need to be regularly and properly implemented; focus on improving urban infrastructure, building high-tech livelihood models that bring high added value to generate income for the people.

Simultaneously, ensure a equitable standard of living for the people between urban and rural areas; pay attention to effectively implementing education and training, raising the intellectual level of the population, and developing human resources for ethnic minority communities; promote the role of respected individuals in the community; and address several other important issues.

At the Congress, the Chairman of the City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Commendation to 5 collectives and 10 individuals for their outstanding achievements in ethnic affairs work during the period 2019-2024.
