Today, November 1st, information from the Dak Lak Provincial Police indicates that after more than two months of continuing the campaign to encourage the entire population to surrender and combat crimes violating laws on weapons, explosives, and supporting tools, the police force has recovered more than 4,000 weapons, explosives, and supporting tools.
Among these items were 21 military-grade firearms, 1,378 homemade firearms of various types; 2,118 rounds of ammunition; 237 rudimentary weapons and 234 illegal supporting tools.
During this campaign, the police in many communes, wards, and towns actively went to each household to raise awareness about the harmful effects and negative consequences of buying, possessing, and using homemade guns and illegal supporting tools, and encouraged people to surrender them.
Many people have voluntarily surrendered weapons to the police. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Thanh, Head of the Administrative Management and Social Order Police Department of Dak Lak Provincial Police, said that the recovery of weapons and explosives aims to ensure security, order, and safety for the people.
