Love for disabled children

In this classroom, parents shed tears as they saw their children stand up, walk, and call out "Dad" and "Mom" for the first time. They had waited so long to witness this joy. Many children, who were previously confined to their beds, gradually recovered thanks to the persistent guidance of teacher Phung.

At the recently concluded LION Championship, a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament, fighter Lo Thi Phung made a strong impression by appearing in traditional Thai attire.

"I've always been proud to be of the Thai ethnic group. I want to convey a message about the strength and resilience of ethnic minority women," Lo Thi Phung explained her choice of wearing a traditional Thai dress for her appearance in the competition before going on stage.

Lo Thi Phung was born in 1998 and is originally from Lai Chau. She graduated from the College of Early Childhood Education and worked as a preschool teacher before entering the world of sports .

Three years ago, Lo Thi Phung packed her bags and went to Ho Chi Minh City alone to train in Jujitsu. Despite only a short time training, with her innate martial arts talent, Phung competed for the Dong Nai team and consistently achieved high results.

Since the beginning of the year, this female martial artist has won a gold medal at the Club Cup in Can Tho , a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Championships, and a gold medal at the 2024 National Championships…

Stepping away from the competition arena, Lo Thi Phung became a teacher, actively participating in charitable activities, helping those in difficult circumstances, and engaging in activities that spread the spirit of sportsmanship in the community.

One of Phung's meaningful activities is participating in a project led by coach Le Hoang Mai, who has spent many years supporting and rehabilitating children with polio, motor disabilities, and cognitive delays.

Parents whose children participate in Mr. Le Hoang Mai's project call it "a classroom of love and happiness." In this classroom, parents shed tears when they saw their children stand up, walk, and call out "Dad" and "Mom" for the first time.

They had waited too long to witness this happiness. Many children, who were previously bedridden, have gradually recovered thanks to the persistent support of teacher Phung.

"For children with mobility difficulties coupled with poor cognitive abilities, getting them to stand on their own is really challenging. That's why I always want to do something for these children," Lo Thi Phung shared.
