Brazilian pioneer proposes biofuel cooperation with Vietnam

(Chinhphu.vn) - During the bilateral activities in Brazil, on the morning of July 6, local time, in Rio de Janeiro city, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh worked with the leaders of FS Company - a pioneering enterprise in Brazil specializing in producing ethanol from corn, and one of the leading low-carbon biofuel producers in Latin America.

Appreciating Vietnam's green development strategy, Mr. Daniel Lopes, Vice President of FS Company, said that with the mission of promoting sustainable development, FS combines modern technology with smart farming solutions to create clean energy products such as ethanol, biomass electricity and by-products for the livestock industry. FS proposes strategic cooperation with Vietnam on biofuels.

Appreciating the initiative and goodwill of FS in promoting bilateral cooperation on biofuels, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is gradually implementing the energy transition strategy and aiming for the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 as committed at COP26, in which the development of sustainable energy solutions in the transport sector plays an important role.

Welcoming the proposal of FS on the establishment of an exchange mechanism between the Vietnamese and Brazilian Governments on biofuels, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned relevant agencies of Vietnam to discuss and study the establishment of an exchange and cooperation mechanism between the two Governments on biofuels; and requested FS Company to closely coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities to share experiences in the field of biofuel production.

The Prime Minister hopes that FS will expand investment-business-trade cooperation in Vietnam as well as strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises, including the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group, to transfer technology, support Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the global biofuel value chain as well as support Vietnam to access E10 gasoline at a suitable price, competitive with the international market. In particular, research for the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group to cooperate with FS to invest in ethanol production in Vietnam or in Brazil.
