A number of major retail chains in Vietnam, such asFPT Shop, CellphoneS, Minh Tuan Mobile, and Di Dong Viet, have simultaneously launched the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5.
Among them, the Galaxy Z Flip5 is the product that has received more attention from users.
"The number of customers ordering the Galaxy Z Flip5 at our system accounts for about 70%. This was also predicted beforehand, because this year's Galaxy Z Flip5 version has many important improvements," said Mr. Nguyen Van Linh, Samsung product manager at Minh Tuan Mobile system.
The same was observed at FPT Shop. As of 6 PM on August 11th, this retailer had received approximately 2,500 orders. Of these, the Galaxy Z Flip5 model accounted for 55% of the total orders.
"The Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 boast numerous improvements in hinge, screen, and camera. We expect that by the end of August, the total number of orders for the Galaxy Z5 Series will increase by 1.2 times compared to its predecessor," shared Mr. Nguyen The Kha, Commercial Director of FPT Shop.
Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip5 has many improvements with the outer screen increased in size to 3.4 inches. This upgrade allows the device to display more information and run supported applications.
The main screen measures 6.7 inches, uses Dynamic AMOLED technology, and has a 120Hz refresh rate. The device integrates a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip and a 3,700mAh battery supporting 25W fast charging.
According to retailers, the number of customers pre-ordering the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 has increased by 20-30% compared to the same period last year.
"After the pre-order period, we recorded approximately 1,500 customers ordering the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5. This number represents a 30% increase compared to the same period last year. The number of customers interested in the Flip series is growing," said Mr. Nguyen Huy Tan, media representative of CellphoneS.
Ms. Phung Phuong, a representative of Di Dong Viet's media team, also stated that pre-orders for the Galaxy Z5 Series have increased by approximately 30% compared to its predecessor. However, this growth is still not as high as expected, as consumer purchasing power has been partly affected by the economic situation.
In contrast to the changes on the Flip series, the overall design of the Galaxy Z Fold5 is not significantly different from its predecessor. The most notable upgrade lies in the new hinge design, which allows the device to fold without creating a gap in the middle as before.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 still features two screens: a 6.2-inch screen on the outside and a 7.6-inch screen on the inside. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The device is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor for Galaxy, along with a 4,400mAh battery with 25W fast charging. The camera system includes a 50MP main lens, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens supporting 3x optical zoom.
In the Vietnamese market, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will directly compete with another foldable smartphone, the Oppo Find N2 Flip. Additionally, in the same price segment, it will also compete with rivals such as the Xiaomi 13 and iPhone 14.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold5 is positioned in a completely separate segment, as other tech giants like Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo have yet to officially sell comparable foldable smartphones.
