With the Lunar New Year of the Snake 2025 fast approaching, consumer demand is increasing, leading to a higher risk of smuggling and trade fraud. To maintain market stability, the Provincial Market Management Department has been aggressively implementing a comprehensive set of market inspection and control measures to protect consumer rights and legitimate businesses.

According to the assessment of the Provincial Market Management Department, despite suffering significant damage from Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi) at the end of 2024, thanks to the determination of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots level, as well as the people and businesses in overcoming the consequences of the typhoon, production and business activities in Quang Ninh quickly stabilized.

Thanks to this, during the Lunar New Year period, the supply and demand of goods in Quang Ninh remained basically stable. Shopping centers, supermarkets, stores, and traditional markets operated normally, with abundant and diverse goods, and no shortages or sudden price increases occurred. However, counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights, and goods of unknown origin still occurred in the province, with increasingly sophisticated methods and tactics.

In response to this situation, the provincial market management force has been decisively implementing a comprehensive set of solutions to inspect and control the market, and combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. Following the plan, the market management force is deploying 100% of its personnel, assigning officers to be on duty and closely monitoring the market 24/7 to inspect, supervise, proactively understand and forecast market trends, and promptly propose measures to combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.

The Provincial Market Management Department has proactively developed plans and led inter-agency inspections of essential goods with high consumer demand during the Lunar New Year, such as: cakes, jams, candies, wine, cigarettes, soft drinks; food products from livestock and poultry; clothing and fashion accessories; pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional foods, electronics, refrigeration equipment, clothing, shoes, etc. This aims to promptly prevent the risk of counterfeit, fake, and substandard goods infiltrating the market.

To maintain market stability during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, the Provincial Market Management Department has also strengthened coordination and control of goods traded on e-commerce platforms and social media sites such as Facebook, TikTok, and Zalo; checking the quality, origin, and source of goods, compliance with legal regulations on national technical standards and published quality standards, food safety... resolutely handling serious violations.

Along with strengthening professional work and stabilizing the market, the Provincial Market Management Department also proactively coordinates with relevant departments, localities, and units to organize propaganda and dissemination of legal regulations on goods trading and food safety; mobilizes people and businesses not to participate in or abet smuggling, production, and trading of prohibited and counterfeit goods; and requires production and business establishments to sign commitments not to trade in counterfeit, smuggled, or substandard goods.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung, Director of the Provincial Market Management Department, said: In the coming time, the Provincial Market Management Department will continue to direct its teams to closely monitor market developments, strengthen market inspections and controls before, during, and after the Lunar New Year; and at the same time, strengthen inspections and supervision of business activities in tourist areas, attractions, and areas where spring festivals are held in the province.
