The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the results of the national excellent student competition for the 2024-2025 school year, in which the top three localities nationwide are Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong.

Thus, if we add up the total number of national outstanding students in the Hanoi area, it is 371, of which 200 awards went to high schools under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, and 137 awards went to students from specialized high schools under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Hanoi Pedagogical University.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City as a whole has 235 national-level outstanding students in various subjects, of which 166 are currently studying at high schools under the management of the Department of Education and Training.
Besides Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the top 10 localities with the most national-level outstanding students this school year are: Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Nghe An, Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Vinh Phuc, and Ha Tinh.
The national high school student excellence competition for the 2024-2025 academic year will be held on December 25th and 26th, 2024. A total of 6,482 candidates nationwide will participate, an increase of 663 compared to the previous year.
Candidates took the exam at 68 examination centers with 13 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, and Japanese. This year, for the first time, Japanese was included in the exam.
According to the current regulations for the national-level gifted student selection exam, the total number of awards from the Encouragement level upwards shall not exceed 60% of the number of participating candidates; the total number of First, Second, and Third prizes shall not exceed 60% of the total number of awards; and the number of First prizes shall not exceed 5% of the total number of awards.
The grading process was organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in accordance with regulations, ensuring safety, seriousness, accuracy, objectivity, and fairness. As a result, the grading committee selected 3,803 winning candidates, accounting for 58.68% of the total number of candidates.
The results of the grading and ranking show that the number of award-winning students this year is evenly distributed across most localities. Some mountainous and border areas, with difficult socio-economic conditions, also had students who achieved the highest rankings in the exam.
According to the examination regulations, candidates have the right to request a review of their exam papers within 15 days of the results being announced. The Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, issues certificates to winning students, while other students are also acknowledged with certificates of participation in the examination.
