The intensive emulation campaign, lasting from now until September 2nd, 2025, aims to resolutely prevent and combat IUU fishing; to motivate, attract, and encourage all collectives and individuals to unite, be dynamic and creative, overcome difficulties, and fight against IUU fishing crimes and violations; to prevent fishing vessels and fishermen from violating foreign waters to exploit aquatic resources; to strictly implement international commitments and regulations, especially the requirements of all levels, sectors, forces, Party committees, and local authorities in coastal areas to do a good job of preparing for the EC Inspection Team's 5th visit to Vietnam, aiming to lift the "Yellow Card"; and to effectively protect, regenerate, and sustainably exploit aquatic resources.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Hieu, Deputy Commander of the Military Naval Squadron, emphasized: “To do a good job of preparing for the EC Inspection Delegation's 5th visit to Vietnam, and to move towards lifting the 'Yellow Card', the entire unit, especially ships currently on duty at sea, must focus on strengthening patrol and control work in the assigned sea areas; closely coordinate with relevant units and local authorities to strictly handle violations, especially acts of encroachment on foreign waters… In addition, the Naval Squadron will also promote propaganda and mobilize fishermen to strictly comply with regulations on fisheries exploitation; combine propaganda in the 'Coast Guard accompanying fishermen' program to widely disseminate among the people, especially fishermen, about the regulations on combating IUU fishing in Vietnam and internationally.”
Coast Guard vessels from Squadron 21 are conducting IUU (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated) fishing awareness campaigns for fishermen operating in the maritime border area between Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. |
