Over the years, in addition to effectively carrying out business activities, the branches of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank ( Agribank ) in the province have always actively fulfilled their responsibilities to the community through social welfare activities such as building charitable houses and schools, giving Tet gifts to poor households and families entitled to preferential policies... These activities have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party committees, local authorities and the community.
For many years, Agribank branches in the province have made significant contributions to social welfare and community activities through practical actions. Most recently, with the desire to support and assist poor households, those facing difficult circumstances, and policy beneficiaries across the province to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake (2015) fully and warmly, Agribank branches, through the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, distributed 4,200 Tet gifts, each worth 500,000 VND, to the poor and policy beneficiaries. This is an annual activity of the bank, providing timely support and encouragement to thousands of poor households and policy beneficiaries in localities throughout the province, bringing them joy during the Tet holiday.
It is known that the education sector has received significant attention and focus from various organizations over the years, with investments in dozens of schools in rural and mountainous areas. During the recent Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake), Agribank Bac Thanh Hoa branch inaugurated and handed over a social welfare project to Vinh Hung Primary School (Vinh Loc district) with a total support of 7.1 billion VND. The project involved the construction of a new administrative building and functional rooms, covering an area of 423.4 square meters and spanning two floors, aiming to improve facilities and ensure the quality of teaching and learning for teachers and students at the school.
With the desire to "leave no one behind," banks also prioritize allocating significant funds to programs to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, working closely with local authorities to support poor and near-poor households facing housing difficulties. Ms. Le Thi Huyen, from Tam Hoa village, Cong Chinh commune (Nong Cong district), is one of the households facing difficult circumstances, being elderly and frequently ill. For many years, Ms. Huyen lived in a dilapidated house, lacking the means to repair it. Understanding her situation, Agribank Nam Thanh Hoa helped build a solidarity house, approximately 50 square meters in size, with a heat-resistant corrugated iron roof, including a living room, bedroom, and kitchen, providing Ms. Huyen with a sturdy home to live comfortably in her old age.
Ms. Trinh Thi Kim Lien, Deputy Director and Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Agribank Nam Thanh Hoa Branch, stated: “The bank's management always educates and inspires a sense of responsibility towards the community among all staff and employees. Besides the task of providing capital to serve agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, Agribank branches in general, and Agribank Nam Thanh Hoa in particular, always consider social welfare work as one of the important tasks contributing to poverty reduction in local areas. Meaningful gifts that care for the material and spiritual lives of policy beneficiary families and people with meritorious services in local areas are not only valuable in terms of material value but also carry great significance in encouraging, sharing, and giving strength and confidence to those in difficult circumstances to overcome challenges in life.”
In 2024 and the first few months of 2025, Agribank branches sponsored over 10 billion VND for charitable and social welfare activities, with notable contributions such as: social welfare sponsorship for healthcare and education; Tet gifts for policy beneficiary families and poor households; sponsorship of gratitude activities; support for people affected by Typhoon No. 3; and donations of forestry seedlings to poor households in many localities. In addition, the banks have also invested in and sponsored the purchase of vehicles, ambulances, and equipment for medical facilities, donated hundreds of social insurance books and health insurance cards to the poor, contributing to better healthcare services for the people, and implemented social projects such as lighting rural roads, supporting tree planting, greening barren land and hills, and applying science and technology in production and business.
Agribank branches in the province are implementing many effective business programs and solutions, continuing to affirm and maintain their leading role in the credit market for the development of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. At the same time, they demonstrate the responsibility of a large enterprise and, through social welfare activities, accompany farmers, support vulnerable groups in society, policy beneficiary families, and implement sustainable poverty reduction solutions, demonstrating the responsibility of a bank for the community.
