The documents of the 13th National Congress of the Party affirmed: "Building a professional, humane, and modern press and media." To achieve this, the most important factor is people; therefore, journalists have been and are constantly cultivating, training, and improving their moral character, enhancing their political and professional skills, staying close to reality and connected with the lives of the people, reflecting the pulse of life and touching the hearts of readers.

Opportunities and challenges

Currently, media organizations are facing numerous challenges of the times, from the information explosion and the influence of social media, digital media, and digital platforms. If the press does not innovate in a timely manner, it will fall behind and struggle to maintain its role in guiding and shaping public opinion. Opportunities and difficulties always go hand in hand, demanding innovation from media organizations, as well as greater courage, skill, and dedication from each journalist.

Literary critic Thy Lan, Vice President of the Thanh Hoa Literature and Arts Association and Editor-in-Chief of the Thanh Hoa Literature and Arts Magazine, expressed her concern: Along with the information explosion and various forms of media, journalism is becoming increasingly modern but also more accessible and familiar to the public. However, with "freedom of speech" and freedom of image on social media, journalism needs to act as a channel to guide public opinion, ensuring people focus on accurate information and remain "immune" to harmful, toxic, or distorted information, especially that goes against the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, and the customs, traditions, and moral values ​​of the Vietnamese people. Therefore, each journalist, first and foremost, is a "channel" of official information, using culture as a yardstick in their conduct, communication, and in reflecting professional issues in their works.

Throughout the history of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, humanistic ideals have always been evident. Therefore, journalistic culture needs to be valued to enhance the humanistic aspect of each journalistic work. Journalists need to clearly define their responsibilities in preserving, protecting, and promoting national cultural identity; igniting the flame of knowledge and compassion in social activities; promoting and spreading, responding to, and actively participating in emulation movements; building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture rich in national identity; strongly arousing patriotism, national self-reliance, and the aspiration for a prosperous and happy country... while simultaneously creating journalistic products rich in cultural content, spreading positive values, contributing to building people with good character, and creating a healthy cultural environment. Journalism is a job that demands both talent and dedication. In the past, some media outlets were temporarily suspended, and some officials and reporters did not properly understand the mission, position, role, and responsibility of journalists, lacking self-cultivation and training, pursuing a pragmatic, selfish, and narrow-minded lifestyle. Fortunately, Thanh Hoa's press has minimized and promptly prevented the outbreak of such behaviors. Therefore, media outlets and journalists have operated impartially and upheld their potential, creating a strong brand for Thanh Hoa province's press, earning the trust of the Party Committee, the government, and the people.

Enhancing the role of local media

Proud to be a local Party newspaper with significant growth, worthy of being the mouthpiece of the Party Committee, government, and people of Thanh Hoa, throughout its 62-year history, Thanh Hoa Newspaper has always received timely leadership and guidance from the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, all levels and sectors, the people, and its readers. With its established development direction, Thanh Hoa Newspaper is gradually building itself into a multi-media news agency, with print as its foundation and online as its breakthrough. Every journalist in Thanh Hoa has been and continues to strive to contribute and dedicate themselves to building and developing the newspaper to increasingly fulfill its political tasks in each period, earning the trust and affection of all strata of the people, and building a more prosperous and strong Thanh Hoa homeland.

Accompanying the development of Thanh Hoa province, and alongside the province's press agencies, Thanh Hoa Radio and Television Station has played a crucial role in disseminating information and promoting the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, serving the cause of building the political system, developing the economy and society, strengthening national defense and security; and meeting the needs of improving the intellectual level, cultural life, and spiritual well-being of the people in the province. To ensure that the development of Thanh Hoa Radio and Television Station keeps pace with and meets the development needs of the province, the unit has always innovated and comprehensively upgraded its program content, human resources, operating methods, facilities, equipment, and technology, promptly responding to the digital transformation trend in the field of journalism. It strives to become a media agency with significant influence in the North Central region and the whole country, actively contributing to information and propaganda work, serving political tasks, and promoting the image of Thanh Hoa in the era of integration and development.

Together with Thanh Hoa Newspaper and the Provincial Radio and Television Station, the Thanh Hoa Literature and Arts Magazine – the official publication of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Association of Literature and Arts – has, over the years, fulfilled its political mission (propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, combating and refuting distorted, false, and hostile viewpoints and arguments; protecting the Party's ideological foundation) while also playing a crucial role in nurturing authors and literary and artistic works. It serves as a nursery, discovering and cultivating many young writers to contribute to the province's literary and artistic scene. The magazine continues to inherit and promote the fine values ​​of previous generations, while constantly innovating, creating, and improving efficiency in its work and in its daily life, contributing to the positive achievements of the 50th anniversary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Association of Literature and Arts (1974-2024).

Assessing the role of the press in contributing to the development of Thanh Hoa province, Comrade Dao Xuan Yen, Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Propaganda Department of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, stated: Over the years, press agencies and journalists have made efforts and demonstrated responsibility in providing timely, complete, and comprehensive information and propaganda about the situation in the province, the country, and the world. This has helped cadres, Party members, the business community, and all strata of the people to promptly grasp and support the major policies and guidelines of the Party, the State, and the province. Thanh Hoa province always cherishes, acknowledges, and highly appreciates the companionship and positive contributions of journalists and press agencies to the development of the province and always pays special attention to and shares in journalistic activities. In the current context, journalistic activities face numerous difficulties and challenges. Therefore, amidst the intertwined advantages, difficulties, and challenges, along with the press nationwide, press agencies, journalists, and agencies responsible for directing, guiding, and managing the press in the province need to fully and seriously identify and promptly overcome existing shortcomings and limitations. At the same time, they must continue to strive, innovate, and be more determined to successfully complete their tasks, actively contributing to encouraging and motivating cadres, Party members, and all strata of the people in the province to successfully achieve the province's political goals and tasks. Press agencies need to continue to adhere closely to the orientation and principles to better perform their tasks of informing and disseminating information on political issues and events of the country and the province. The focus should be on promoting the results of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; Resolution No. 58 of the Politburo on building and developing Thanh Hoa province until 2030, with a vision to 2045; Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and Resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term; promoting the image of Thanh Hoa's land and people to friends at home and abroad.

In 2024, the revolutionary press of Vietnam, founded by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, celebrated its 99th anniversary (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024). This is an opportunity for every media agency and journalist to reflect on the glorious traditions, immense contributions, and noble mission of the revolutionary press in Vietnam's struggle for national independence, reunification, and the building and protection of the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland; to encourage, motivate, and express gratitude to generations of journalists and media agencies with outstanding achievements; and to foster pride and love for the profession among journalists in the current period, contributing to the realization of the goal of building a professional, humane, and modern media and press.
