Reporting at the conference, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong stated that in the 2023-2024 school year, the capital's education sector achieved comprehensive results at all levels and disciplines, successfully completing key tasks and objectives. The city has 2,913 preschool and primary/secondary schools, an increase of 39 schools compared to the same period of the previous school year, with nearly 2.3 million students and nearly 130,000 teachers.

Students from Hanoi topped the country with 184 students winning awards in the national excellent student selection exam, 43 more than in 2023; many students also won awards in international competitions, notably two students winning gold medals in the Biology and Chemistry Olympiads...

The results of this year's high school graduation exam for students in the city continue to show strong improvement, with 99.81% of students graduating, an increase of 0.25% and a rise of 5 ranks compared to 2023 (from 16th to 11th place). In particular, the graduation rate for continuing education students reached 99.12%, 2.24% higher than the national average for continuing education, the highest result in the past 5 years.

Hanoi has the highest number of perfect scores (10/10) in the country with 915 perfect scores, and one student achieved the highest total score nationwide (57.85 points). In addition, students from the capital city won 339 medals, ranking second overall at the 2024 National Phu Dong Sports Festival.

Notably, in the 2023-2024 school year, schools admitted 200 students into the Party, more than double the number from the previous school year. Investment in infrastructure continued to be strengthened. Nearly 80% of public schools in the city meet national standards.

In preparation for the 2024-2025 school year, schools have safely and effectively organized the enrollment process for preschool, grade 1, grade 6, and grade 10, overcoming the limitations and shortcomings in the examination and enrollment process of previous years, such as: eliminating the phenomenon of queuing to submit enrollment applications or drawing lots to get into public schools... The city is also urgently implementing the preparation for the investment and construction of an advanced, modern multi-level school with an area of ​​more than 5 hectares…

For the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi's education and training sector has set out 10 key tasks, focusing on overcoming the shortcomings and deficiencies of the previous school year, strengthening discipline, order, and democracy in schools; building a safe educational environment, improving the quality of education, paying attention to developing qualities and abilities, emphasizing moral education, lifestyle, life skills, and awareness of law compliance for students…

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh and Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong presented the Flag of Excellence for leading the emulation movement to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

At the conference, leaders from Hanoi City, the Ministry of Education and Training , and the Hanoi Department of Education and Training presented emulation flags and certificates of merit to units and individuals who achieved outstanding results in the 2023-2024 school year.

To spread the meaning of the drum used for studying and contribute to building a learning society in the capital city, through the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the Marie-Curie Education System has donated 70 drums to units and schools in the city.

Acknowledging and appreciating the significant achievements of the capital's education and training sector, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that, with the spirit of considering education and training as a top national priority, the City Party Committee, the City People's Council, and the City People's Committee have always identified fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, improving the quality of human resources, and building elegant and civilized Hanoi citizens as particularly important tasks with decisive significance for the sustainable development of Hanoi in the future. The city has focused all resources on investing in infrastructure, building a team of teachers and education management staff... in order to comprehensively improve the quality of education.

To fulfill the tasks of the 2024-2025 school year, Comrade Tran Sy Thanh suggested that the Hanoi education and training sector focus on closely following the directives and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training, the City Party Committee, the City People's Council, and the City People's Committee to implement tasks and prepare best for the new school year; along with developing the scale, continue to find solutions to improve the overall quality of education; and gradually build Hanoi into a truly large and exemplary center of high-quality education and training in the country.
