According to reports from local authorities and the Vinh Hai border guard station, there are currently 24 glass-bottom boats, 33 canoes, 7 floating restaurants, and 31 jet skis in Vinh Hy Bay. Of these, all glass-bottom boats, 17 canoes, and 3 floating restaurants meet the legal requirements for tourism operations. However, all remaining jet skis do not meet the requirements for operating and transporting passengers. From the beginning of 2023 to the present, local authorities have required owners of inland waterway vessels that do not meet regulations to sign commitments not to engage in tourism activities. Simultaneously, inspections have been intensified, resulting in the detection and handling of 35 violations with fines totaling over 105 million VND. Nevertheless, some inland waterway vessels that do not meet legal regulations are still operating clandestinely, causing traffic safety hazards in the area.
The inspection team reviewed the work of ensuring order and safety of inland waterway traffic serving tourism in the Vinh Hy Bay area.
Following an on-site inspection, the inspection team requested the Ninh Hai District Traffic Safety Committee and relevant agencies to strengthen the implementation of measures to ensure traffic safety on inland waterways; and to resolutely handle owners of vessels that do not meet safety requirements but still deliberately pick up and transport tourists. The inspection team also requested the Ninh Hai District Police Traffic Police to increase patrols and control to ensure traffic safety on the coastal road during the National Day holiday.
