Cold rain in the North, widespread heavy rain in the Central region

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and early this morning (October 28), scattered showers and thunderstorms occurred in the Northeast and Southern regions of Vietnam, with some areas experiencing heavy rain. Rainfall amounts from 7 PM last night to 7 AM this morning exceeded 60mm in some places, such as: Than Sa (Thai Nguyen) 94.2mm, Thanh Luong (Hanoi) 85.5mm, Thanh Thinh (Bac Kan) 73.4mm, Dong Tam (Quang Ninh) 63.6mm, Thanh Dong (Kien Giang) 64.4mm, Tuyen Nhon (Long An) 62.8mm, Thanh Tan ( Tien Giang ) 60.8mm...

The forecast for today and tonight indicates continued showers and thunderstorms in the Northern and North Central regions , with localized heavy to very heavy rainfall of 20-50mm, and over 100mm in some areas. The Southern region will experience lower rainfall of 15-30mm, with over 60mm in some areas (rain concentrated in the afternoon and evening).

Notably, the meteorological agency forecasts that from tomorrow afternoon (October 29th) to November 2nd, there is a possibility of widespread heavy rain in the northern and central regions of Vietnam.

Additionally, due to the influence of a weak cold front, the weather in the Northern region will be cool from October 29th, with cold nights and mornings in the northern mountainous areas.

Regarding rainfall patterns in Northern and Central Vietnam, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy (Huy Nguyen), an expert on climate change and natural disaster warnings, also predicted that relatively heavy rainfall could occur in the northern midland and North Central regions from October 28th to November 2nd. The rain is expected to spread gradually from the North to the Central region.

Specifically, Dr. Huy predicted that on October 28-29, heavy rain would occur in the northern mountainous region and the Northern Delta; on October 30-31, the rain would extend to Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh , Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue. From October 31 to November 2, heavy rain would occur in Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, and Da Nang.

The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms may bring tornadoes, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind, flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes. Localized heavy rainfall may cause flooding in low-lying areas.

At approximately 8:00 AM this morning, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting announced that, based on analysis of satellite cloud imagery, weather radar images, and lightning location data, the following districts/counties will continue to experience showers and thunderstorms: Thuong Tin, Ung Hoa, Phu Xuyen, Thach That, Quoc Oai, Phuc Tho, Dan Phuong, Me Linh, Soc Son, Dong Anh, Hoai Duc, Tay Ho, Cau Giay, and Bac Tu Liem.

Over the next 30 minutes to 4 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop and expand, causing showers and thunderstorms in the aforementioned areas, and potentially extending to other inner-city districts of Hanoi such as: Ha Dong, Nam Tu Liem, Ba Dinh, Hoang Mai, Long Bien, Dong Da, Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Xuan,...

Rainfall amounts are expected to range from 20-50mm, with some areas receiving over 70mm, potentially causing flooding on many streets in Hanoi's inner city. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
