On November 29, the police of Hoa Khanh Nam ward (Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city) invited the owner of the rosewood tree and representatives of the group of people who cut down the tree at house number 56 Nguyen Khac Nhu street to work.
Previously, the Hoa Khanh Nam Ward Police received a complaint from the homeowner at 56 Nguyen Khac Nhu about a rosewood tree planted in front of his house being cut down by a group of strangers without notice.
According to the homeowner, the rosewood tree was purchased for 5 million VND and planted in 2015. On the afternoon of November 27, the family was not informed about the tree being cut down. When they returned from exercising, they discovered the tree had been cut down.
Through review, the Ward Police determined that on November 27, a number of workers of Phuoc Ly Xanh Company Limited performed their duties according to the contract.
These workers arrived at the house number above and discovered that the rosewood tree had signs of drying out and losing its leaves, so they took pictures and sent them to the company director. After that, the director agreed to saw the tree and transport the trunk to Hoa Tien commune (Hoa Vang district).
When the company director learned that the group of workers had not worked with the neighborhood group or homeowner before cutting down the tree, on the afternoon of November 28, he contacted the homeowner to uproot the tree and plant a replacement.
At the ward police headquarters, the company found that sawing and cutting down trees in front of the above house number was not in accordance with procedures.
The two sides agreed to deal with the consequences by having the company plant other trees to replace them and compensate the homeowner 12 million VND.
The leader of Phuoc Ly Xanh Company Limited admitted his mistake in not notifying the homeowner about the tree cutting.
“In this case, if the homeowner was not at home, the workers could have paused. However, because they were on schedule to trim trees to prevent storms and cut down diseased trees, the workers rushed to finish the work to meet the schedule, which led to the unexpected incident,” the company leader explained.
