According to Khaosod, Valaya Alongkorn University in Pathum Thani has just sent a message to the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT). This message clearly states that if SAT and the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee do not pay or deposit, they will not be allowed to use the petanque court, on the university campus, to compete in this year's Southeast Asian Games.

According to the above newspaper, the amount of money that the stadium's management unit requires SAT and the SEA Games Organizing Committee to pay them is 400,000 baht (about 320 million VND).
Meanwhile, in Thairath, this newspaper wrote: "The petanque court for the SEA Games is ready, but has not been opened yet, because SAT has not yet transferred the 400,000 baht court rental fee to Valaya Alongkorn University."
“Because they have not been paid, the owners of the competition venue will not allow the athletes to use the competition field until they receive full payment.
It is worth noting that according to the old schedule, the field must be tested on December 8, before the official petanque competitions begin on December 10,” Thairath added.
Previously, the petanque event at the SEA Games was scheduled to take place at Prince University in Songkhla province. However, due to heavy flooding in Songkhla and other southern provinces in Thailand at the end of November, the competitions in Songkhla were moved to other localities. The petanque event was moved to Pathum Thani province (more than 40km from Bangkok).
Thairath newspaper commented: “The sudden relocation forced the organizers to rush to prepare a new venue within just a few days. That left some issues unresolved, leading to a worrying situation before the match like this.”
