Nguyen Dinh Khoa is not a professional writer but he writes very prolifically, having won the Literature Award for 20-year-olds (2018) with the work Solo Travel (novel) published by Tre Publishing House. In the following years, this writer, whose main job is an architect, published the following essays: Returning to a Child (Women Publishing House, 2021) and Construction Ant (Kim Dong Publishing House, 2023).

The good news came unexpectedly, Nguyen Dinh Khoa expressed his excitement to VietNamNet. He shared the message of Di Ban : “I wrote a story about love in which there is a lot of loss. I think that accepting loss is a stage and is inevitable in life that anyone must go through, just as loneliness is the price that people must taste when they grow up.” The author who just won the 2024 Young Literature Award said that he likes to write about characters who are not bad, nor necessarily good. “I don’t talk much about the bad or the good in people. But it is their souls being enlightened, idealized and getting closer to love that I worry about the most. And in that process, as a storyteller, I mold the characters according to my personal wishes until each part of me seems to die with them,” Nguyen Dinh Khoa said.

The author, born in 1984, confided that he always wanted to write about the loneliness of modern people. And when writing about loneliness, he wrote about himself. When nothing was his anymore, Nguyen Dinh Khoa brought what would-be-himself to continue the story. But above all, according to the author of Different Versions , from his heart, he hopes that human pain will be healed, that every wound will be mended, even when having to accept the lingering pain of that process. With such a mindset, Nguyen Dinh Khoa always feels sympathized with and shared with when writing about loneliness. He expressed his wish that when someone reads this work, the good aspects inside each person can be touched, so that they can always be sincere with themselves and cherish the beautiful days they are living. “For me, Different Version is a story that opens other stories, about the challenges and consequences that humans are facing. We are living in a modern world full of chaos, destroying our own living environment, the hole we dug ourselves is getting bigger and bigger. Humans put their own value above all else but seek fairness and justice for themselves, which is truly delusional,” Nguyen Dinh Khoa commented. After all, according to Khoa, human existence, as well as any other species, needs to be understood in a mutually supportive and balanced relationship. “In a devastated world, can humans still survive?”
