The conference was attended by leaders from relevant departments and agencies, agricultural and economic departments of localities, and more than 300 delegates representing technology companies, agricultural cooperatives, and agricultural production, business, and processing establishments in Hai Phong city.
Delegates were informed about the results of digital transformation in agriculture and rural areas in Hai Phong city over the past years, as well as digital transformation models in agricultural production. With the solutions presented, along with the recommendations from businesses, cooperatives, and farmers at the conference, some difficulties and obstacles were partially resolved. This will significantly contribute to promoting digital transformation in agricultural production and building new rural areas in the future.
Also at the conference, representatives from VNPT Hai Phong introduced the first agricultural product data management system deployed in the area. The system was implemented to create favorable opportunities for agricultural producers to promote and introduce their agricultural products to consumers more quickly.
Through this data system, businesses can promptly understand the market and consumer needs to develop appropriate production plans and business strategies. Conversely, consumers can proactively contact producers and processing facilities to obtain safe, high-quality agricultural products with clear origins.

The Hai Phong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and VNPT Hai Phong also signed a memorandum of cooperation on digital transformation in agriculture and rural development. This is an important milestone that opens up new directions, and many new technological solutions and models will be implemented through cooperation between the two sides to bring the best benefits and efficiency to agricultural producers.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuat, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Phong, said that thanks to the application of digital transformation, people have more information, knowledge, and technology support, so the efficiency in agricultural production is becoming increasingly clear. The value of agricultural production in the city has grown at an average rate of 1% or more per year from 2021 to the present. For models applying digital technology, depending on the model, they all bring added value ranging from 20 to 40%.
“Digital transformation in agriculture and rural areas is an inevitable and objective requirement, a task that is both urgent and long-term. This is one of the important solutions to accelerate the restructuring of the agricultural sector, build new rural areas, and contribute to the successful implementation of Resolution 13 of the Party Congress and Resolution 16 of the Hai Phong City Party Committee,” Mr. Tuat said.
Besides the achievements, the Hai Phong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also assessed that the digital transformation in agriculture and new rural areas is in its initial stages, and while attention has been paid to the development of the digital economy in agriculture, the scale remains small. The application of digital technology is not yet synchronized, is fragmented, and implemented in individual stages; the percentage of products participating in e-commerce platforms and traceability is still low.

Therefore, in the coming period, the units under the Department need to further promote digital transformation, digitize business processes, and create databases according to their respective areas of responsibility. In particular, they should develop and replicate priority models for applying information technology and digital transformation solutions such as artificial intelligence, the use of smart devices, and automation…
The leaders of the Hai Phong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development have assigned the Sub-Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Product Quality Management to coordinate with the Agricultural Extension Center and relevant units to actively create, supplement, and share agricultural product databases on the agricultural product data management system. Furthermore, they are to actively promote, disseminate, guide, and provide hands-on training to farmers, agricultural production, business, and processing establishments throughout the city, and consumers to effectively utilize the agricultural product data management system and achieve the set objectives.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Cuong, Deputy Head of the Hai Phong Sub-Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Product Quality Management, the city's agricultural product data management system currently contains over 1,400 records of various types. Through the application of information technology, the system has helped to systematize and provide timely, complete, and accurate information on the agricultural sector, serving the guidance, management, and production and business activities; increasing access to information for organizations, businesses, cooperatives, and farmers, contributing to increased competitiveness, enhanced added value, and sustainable agricultural development.
