There will be an entrance exam for grade 6 if the number of registered students exceeds the quota.

According to the draft, the basic secondary school admission is still carried out by the selection method. However, in cases where the number of students registering for grade 6 is greater than the enrollment quota, the admission will be carried out by combining selection with testing and assessing students' abilities.

The basis for admission is the training results and learning results of the primaryeducation program or literacy program of the candidate. If a grade is repeated, the results of the repeated year of that grade will be used.

Details of admission by combining admission with testing and assessment of student capacity are guided by the Departments of Education and Training.

Thus, in large urban areas such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where 6th grade enrollment is often overloaded, the combined admission method of examination and selection may be applied to non-key schools, if the draft is approved.

It is expected that the Ministry of Education and Training will complete the Circular promulgating the Regulations on Secondary School and High School Admissions before December 31 this year.
