According to the draft, the basic secondary school admission is still carried out by the selection method. However, in case the number of students registering for grade 6 is more than the enrollment target, the secondary school will carry out the admission by combining selection with testing and assessing the students' abilities.
The basis for admission is the training results and learning results of the primary education program or literacy program of the applicant. If a grade is repeated, the results of the repeated year of that grade will be used.
Details of admission by combining admission with testing and assessment of student capacity are guided by the Department of Education and Training.
Thus, in large urban areas such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where 6th grade enrollment is often overloaded, the combined admission method of examination and selection may be applied to non-key schools, if the draft is approved.
It is expected that the Ministry of Education and Training will complete the Circular promulgating the Regulations on Secondary School and High School Admissions before December 31 this year.
