This is an important step in promoting the development of the logistics industry and enhancing trade relations between Vietnam and countries in the region.
The memorandum of understanding emphasizes the implementation of a national railway network development strategy, optimizing efficient freight transport to and from Vietnam SuperPort ™ . Both parties will cooperate in researching strategies for developing new railway lines and stations connecting with Vietnam SuperPort ™ to enhance logistics capacity.

Accordingly, Vietnam SuperPort ™ is positioned as a key transit hub along the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh railway line. This initiative will facilitate efficient and cost-effective freight transportation within Vietnam and across borders.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Director of the Transport Department ( Ministry of Transport ), highly appreciated the participation and cooperation of the partners, stating that this coordination will create synergy and promote Vietnam's transportation system.
According to Mr. Cuong, the transportation sector is facing many opportunities and challenges. Building an efficient and interconnected transportation system, developing advanced logistics centers, and applying modern technology are not only goals but also urgent requirements to ensure competitiveness and sustainable development.
"This event is a significant milestone affirming Vietnam's vision and determination in developing modern and sustainable transportation," Mr. Cuong emphasized, adding that the multimodal port project will bring many great values, representing a strategic step that lays the groundwork for realizing important development goals.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hien, Deputy Director in charge of the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development, said that in the past, the Institute has chaired the development of the railway network development plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 nationwide, and participated in several detailed planning and pre-feasibility projects for key railway lines such as: the high-speed railway line on the North-South axis, the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh railway line, detailed planning of railway hubs in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, detailed planning of some main stations on the North-South railway line…
In particular, the newly constructed Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh railway line with a 1,435mm gauge plays a crucial role in connecting and fostering cooperation between Vietnam and China. It is also an important railway line connecting the Northwest region with Hanoi and the Hai Phong – Quang Ninh region.
According to Ms. Hien, the Vinh Phuc ICD Logistics Center project by Vietnam SuperPort ™ is located in an area with a high volume of import and export goods transported from industrial zones in Vinh Phuc and neighboring provinces and cities to the largest international border gates in the North, such as Noi Bai and Cat Bi International Airports; Hai Phong international gateway seaport; and international land and rail border gates with China within the Vietnam-China economic cooperation corridor (Yunnan - China) - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, Quang Ninh).
With the orientation of building a supply chain of logistics services and urban solutions, aiming to provide green and smart logistics services, contributing to reducing logistics costs and enhancing Vietnam's competitiveness in the region, and achieving net zero by 2040 of Vietnam Superport ™ , Ms. Hien assessed that this orientation is consistent with the goal of "forming large, internationally-standard logistics service centers to reduce costs for businesses, thereby improving the quality and competitiveness of products, goods and the entire economy" of Vietnam's logistics, as well as other sustainable development orientations.

Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, emphasized the importance of developing railway logistics infrastructure.
Emphasizing the importance of these strategic partnerships in realizing the vision of a multimodal logistics port, Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort ™ , informed that the Vinh Phuc ICD logistics center will integrate road, air, sea, and rail transport.
“Developing the logistics industry in conjunction with transportation infrastructure connectivity, especially railway infrastructure, will contribute to enhancing national logistics capacity and strengthening Vietnam’s integration into global supply chains,” Mr. Yap affirmed, adding that the collaborative efforts between Vietnam SuperPort ™ and strategic partners are a significant step in promoting Vietnam’s logistics and transportation capabilities.
By leveraging the expertise of key partners, the project aims to contribute to enhancing Vietnam's position as an important hub in regional and global supply chains. This, in turn, will contribute to economic growth and improve the country's international competitiveness.

Vietnam SuperPort™ signs a memorandum of understanding with China Railway Group 16 Vietnam Co., Ltd.
Also at the event, Vietnam SuperPort ™ signed a memorandum of understanding with China Railway Construction Corporation Vietnam No. 16 Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation).
The cooperation focuses on the construction of a railway freight terminal at Vietnam SuperPort ™ and a railway line connecting to Vietnam's national railway network, serving logistics and cross-border freight transportation services between Vietnam and China, as well as other countries in the region.
Here, Vietnam SuperPort™ will provide integrated logistics solutions including planning, cargo handling, warehousing management, distribution, multimodal transport… thereby enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of rail transport services.
