On the afternoon of October 21 (local time), in Helsinki (capital of Finland), General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, met with officials from the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Nordic countries (Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway).

At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Finland Pham Thi Thanh Binh reported on the work of the Vietnamese Embassy in Finland and the development of the Vietnamese community in the Nordic countries.

Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that he always listens to and values ​​recommendations with the aim of enhancing the value and position of Vietnam and creating the most favorable conditions for the overseas Vietnamese community to integrate into the life of the host country.

This is also a very important task of the Party and State towards the Vietnamese community abroad. The Vietnamese community abroad not only actively contributes to the development of the host countries, but also acts as ambassadors, cultural figures, and important bridges to promote cooperative relations between Vietnam and other countries.

The General Secretary highly appreciated the Vietnamese community in Finland as well as in the Nordic countries for being very united, united, always looking towards the homeland and country, showing patriotism. People love and care for each other, support and help each other and contribute to the development of the host country, many people are successful, hold important positions or dominate scientific fields.

The General Secretary also highly appreciated the activities of the Embassy and representative agencies of Vietnam in Finland and the Nordic countries. Despite the small number of staff, the agency always fulfills its tasks well, promptly strengthens solidarity, international integration, Vietnam's responsibility, and cares for the Vietnamese community.

The General Secretary said that the two countries have upgraded their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, opening up a new space for cooperation, in which the pillars of economic and trade cooperation continue to be promoted; cooperation in science and technology is a very potential field that needs to be promoted, considering this a very important pillar.

Innovation, climate change, industrial production, digital transformation, quantum technology, and artificial intelligence are all new areas of cooperation in which Finland and the Nordic countries have been among the leaders, not only in the region but also in the world. Cooperation in culture, people-to-people exchange, and tourism also opens up many good opportunities. Cooperation in education and training with Finland to train high-quality human resources is a focus in the coming time.

The Communist Party of Finland has always supported further strengthening of bilateral relations.

At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that this was the highest-level visit by a Vietnamese leader to Finland, demonstrating Vietnam's deep respect for the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Finland. During the visit, the two sides agreed to upgrade their strategic partnership.

In the coming time, General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two Parties continue to strengthen exchanges and promote deeper and more substantive cooperation through delegation exchanges and theoretical exchanges; maintain cooperation and coordination at multilateral political party forums of which the two Parties are members, including the International Conference of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP); promote the role of each Party as well as friendship associations in exchanging information, organizing cultural and people-to-people exchanges to further strengthen solidarity and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries; support the Vietnamese and Finnish communities in each country to live, study and work in the host country.

Chairwoman of the Communist Party of Finland Tiina Sandberg informed about the active coordination activities of the Communist Party of Finland and the Finland - Vietnam Friendship Association to contribute to promoting the country and people of Finland in the host country, as well as organizing activities to preserve the cultural identity and Vietnamese language for the Vietnamese community in Finland.

Chairwoman of the Communist Party of Finland Tiina Sandberg affirmed that the Communist Party of Finland always supports further strengthening the Vietnam-Finland relationship as well as the relationship between the two peoples. The two leaders agreed to promote and strengthen cooperation, develop the traditional friendship and the Vietnam-Finland Strategic Partnership, for the long-term interests of the two peoples, for peace, security and sustainable development in the region and the world; support the principled stance on maintaining peace and stability in the region, and peacefully resolving disputes in accordance with international law.
