Ho Chi Minh City adds 5 priority infrastructure projects with a total investment of 3,850 billion VND.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has proposed prioritizing investment in 5 projects (4 interchanges, 1 inter-regional road) for the period 2024-2030, with a total capital of 3,850 billion VND.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has recently sent document No. 9564/SGTVT-KH to the City People's Committee proposing the addition of 5 projects to the investment plan for priority transport infrastructure projects to be implemented in the period 2024 – 2030.

Following directives from the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the opinions of several City Council representatives at the City Council meeting in July 2024, the Department of Transport has reviewed and proposed adding 5 projects (4 interchanges and one inter-regional urban road) that need priority investment in the 2024-2030 period.

Four intersections have been proposed for construction: the Dien Bien Phu – Le Hong Phong – Ly Thai To – Ngo Gia Tu intersection (connecting District 3 and District 10); the Nguyen Tri Phuong – Ngo Gia Tu – Nguyen Chi Thanh intersection (connecting District 5 and District 10); the Nguyen Oanh – Phan Van Tri intersection (Go Vap District); and the National Highway 1 – Road No. 7 – Road No. 18 intersection (Binh Tan District).

All four projects have a proposed investment of 400 billion VND per interchange.

The remaining project involves upgrading and expanding Nguyen Thi Tu road connecting Binh Tan district and Binh Chanh district, with a length of 2.4 km (including the construction of the final interchange with Vo Van Van road - Vinh Loc road), with a total investment of 2,250 billion VND.

Earlier, in early July 2024, the Department of Transport proposed that, during the period 2024-2030, priority should be given to investing in 88 road projects with a total capital of 272,316 billion VND.

Specifically, the proposal prioritizes investment in two interchanges with the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway: the interchange at National Highway 50 (573 billion VND) and the construction of an interchange with the Rung Sac road (2,400 billion VND).

In the area connecting Binh Tan and Tan Phu districts, a proposal has been made to build an overpass at the Bon Xa intersection with a capital investment of 2,400 billion VND.

According to Ho Chi Minh City's traffic management unit, the proposed priority intersections are all important traffic junctions that need to be expedited to help resolve traffic congestion.
