A landslide occurred on the North-South railway line between Hoa Duyet and Yen Due, in Lien Chau village, Duc Lien commune, Vu Quang district ( Ha Tinh province), at 2:00 AM this morning (October 30), causing many trains to stop and wait.
Authorities are working to resolve the landslide issue.
Specifically, the landslide on the railway tracks caused two trains, SE1 and SE20, to stop and wait. Train SE1, carrying 138 passengers, departed from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and stopped at Yen Trung station (Duc Tho); train SE20, carrying 198 passengers, departed from Da Nang to Hanoi and stopped at Hoa Duyet station (Vu Quang).
Immediately after the incident was reported, the railway industry quickly informed trains and stations to develop appropriate plans for transporting passengers and goods and to implement measures to address the landslide.
The railway industry mobilized numerous vehicles to transport passengers on trains to ensure the schedule was maintained.
The railway sector mobilized numerous vehicles to transfer 336 passengers between the two trains. Passengers on train SE1 were transported by car to train SE20 and vice versa; passengers on train SE20 were transferred to train SE1. The distance between Hoa Duyet and Yen Trung stations is 18 km.
By noon on October 30th, all passengers on trains SE1 and SE20 had been transferred and continued their journey.
According to the plan, from afternoon to evening on October 30th, the railway sector is expected to transfer passengers on four other trains. Of these, two trains will be in the afternoon and two in the evening.
From afternoon to evening on October 30th, the railway industry plans to transfer passengers for four more trains.
Regarding the landslide, the railway industry plans to use 1,000 - 1,200 m³ of boulders, packed in gabions, transported from both ends of the landslide area to the site. However, due to the complex terrain of the landslide area, being far from residential areas and near the Ngan Sau River, remediation efforts are facing many difficulties.
As previously reported, at 2:00 AM on October 30th, due to heavy rain, a serious landslide occurred at Km 354+900 - Km 355+750 on the North-South railway line, in the Hoa Duyet - Yen Due section passing through Lien Chau village, Duc Lien commune, Vu Quang district.
Landslides caused hundreds of cubic meters of soil and rocks to slide down a 50-meter stretch of railway track, creating a sinkhole several meters wide. In other locations, trees from the mountain slid down onto the tracks, forcing trains to stop and wait.
