China sets goals for 15th Five-Year Plan

China has set out major goals for economic and social development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, achieving new breakthroughs, improving the level of social civilization, and improving people's quality of life.

According to THX, a senior official said on October 24 that the recommendations of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for the 15th Five-Year Plan have identified the top priority as building a modern industrial system and consolidating the foundations of the real economy .

Mr. Trinh San Khiet, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, made the statement at a press conference.

Previously, on October 23, the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (the 4th Central Committee Meeting) concluded after four days of work.

The conference heard and discussed the report presented by General Secretary Xi Jinping, and also considered and adopted the "Recommendation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on the Construction of the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development."

The conference highly appreciated the significant achievements in China's development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period; and concluded that China's economic strength, scientific and technological strength, and overall strength have reached a new level.

China's modernization process is progressing steadily, opening a new chapter of development. The second centenary goal is off to a good start.

The conference pointed out that the 15th Five-Year Plan period is a crucial period for fundamentally consolidating the foundation and comprehensively promoting socialist modernization, and holds an important position in the process of fundamentally implementing socialist modernization.

The conference set forth the main goals for socio-economic development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period: achieving high-quality development with tangible results, significantly improving the level of scientific and technological self-reliance, deepening comprehensive reforms to achieve new breakthroughs, significantly raising the level of social civilization, and continuously improving the quality of life for the people.

The conference reviewed and approved opinions related to the 15th Five-Year Plan, after which the State Council will finalize the draft for submission to a vote at the "Two Sessions" meeting, scheduled for March 2026.
