On August 22nd, the Da Nang City Department of Science and Technology held a press conference to introduce the activities of the Da Nang City Innovation and Entrepreneurship Festival – SURF 2024.
SURF is an annual event for the innovative startup community in Da Nang city in particular and the community nationwide in general.
At the same time, this day also brings together and connects many elements of the domestic and international startup ecosystem, such as: state management agencies; large corporations; universities and colleges; incubation centers, organizations, individuals, and innovative startup businesses…
SURF 2024 continues its mission of nurturing and developing groundbreaking innovative ideas, connecting them with investors and leading startup experts to realize those ideas and strongly expand them into the market.

With the theme "Reaching New Heights of Creativity – Connecting Globally," SURF 2024 also opens up opportunities for international exchange and cooperation for the startup community nationwide in the coming time.
The festival included a series of events: an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition with 30 participating teams; the launch of the Da Nang-Singapore Innovation Space; and workshops such as: “Connecting Investment in Innovation in Da Nang, South Korea, and Singapore”, “Pioneering Technology – Sustainable Entrepreneurship”, “Models and Networks for Developing Student Entrepreneurship Clubs in Da Nang City”,…
The 10 most outstanding startup projects will have the opportunity to present their ideas and network with domestic and international investors. At the same time, more than 80 booths showcasing startup and innovation projects will also be on display.
On this occasion, Ms. Le Thi Thuc, Deputy Director of the Da Nang City Department of Science and Technology, also provided information about Resolution No. 136, which was recently passed by the National Assembly on June 26, 2024.
Resolution No. 136 on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city includes four groups of specific policies on science and technology and innovation that are groundbreaking and address many current bottlenecks and obstacles.
Specifically: Policies that exempt corporate income tax and personal income tax; and policies that support the development of innovative startup projects to promote the formation and growth of businesses.
The policy allows for controlled testing, in the form of time-limited licensing, of new technologies, products, services, and business models; and the policy of exploiting scientific and technological infrastructure assets to support innovative startups.
"With policy mechanisms and the collective efforts of the entire community and ecosystem components, we believe that the city's innovative startup activities will develop strongly, playing a crucial role in business development, promoting economic growth, and improving the quality of life for the community," Ms. Thuc emphasized.
