Vietnam SuperPort™ and strategic partners cooperate to develop railway logistics infrastructure

On January 7th, Vietnam SuperPort signed a memorandum of understanding for strategic cooperation with the Institute for Transport Strategy and Development (under the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam) and China Railway Construction Corporation Vietnam Co., Ltd. (under the China Railway Construction Corporation) to develop railway logistics infrastructure. This is an important step in promoting the development of the logistics industry and enhancing trade relations between Vietnam and countries in the region.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Jaya Ratnam, Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam; and Dr. Robert Yap, Chairman of YCH Group. This event marks a significant milestone, not only opening up strong development opportunities for Vietnam's transportation, logistics, and trade sectors, but also promoting extensive international cooperation, contributing to the sustainable development of the economy .

Specifically, the memorandum of understanding between Vietnam SuperPort™ and the Institute for Transport Strategy and Development emphasizes the implementation of a national railway network development strategy, optimizing efficient freight transport to and from Vietnam SuperPort . The two parties will cooperate in researching strategies for developing new railway lines and stations connecting to Vietnam SuperPort to enhance logistics capacity. Accordingly, Vietnam SuperPort is positioned as a key transit hub along the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh railway line. This initiative will facilitate efficient and cost-effective freight transport within Vietnam and across borders.

Dr. Yap Kwong Weng – CEO of Vietnam SuperPort and Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hien – Deputy Director in charge of the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development signed a memorandum of understanding for strategic cooperation with the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development.

In addition to its partnership with the Institute for Transport Strategy and Development, Vietnam SuperPort also signed a memorandum of understanding with China Railway Group Limited Vietnam 16. The cooperation focuses on the construction of a railway freight terminal at Vietnam SuperPort and a railway line connecting to Vietnam's national railway network; serving cross-border logistics and freight transportation services between Vietnam and China, as well as other countries in the region. Here, Vietnam SuperPort will provide integrated logistics solutions including: planning, cargo handling, warehousing management, distribution, multimodal transport… thereby enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of railway transportation services.

Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort ™, emphasized the importance of these strategic partnerships in realizing the vision of a multimodal logistics port. The 83-hectare project will integrate road, air, sea, and rail transport. “ Developing the logistics industry in conjunction with transportation infrastructure, especially rail infrastructure, will contribute to enhancing national logistics capacity and strengthening Vietnam’s integration into the global supply chain,” Dr. Yap affirmed.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hien, Deputy Director in charge of the Institute for Transport Strategy and Development, expressed her delight at the cooperation with Vietnam SuperPort in implementing the national transport infrastructure development strategy. “Vietnam SuperPort is a major logistics infrastructure developer with a strategic vision, promoting supply chain connectivity in the region in line with sustainable development goals, committed to net-zero emissions by 2040. This goal is perfectly aligned with the Ministry of Transport’s roadmap for developing a green and sustainable transport system. This strategic partnership is significant, not only promoting the efficient development of transport infrastructure but also supporting the growth goals of the logistics industry and enhancing trade relations between Vietnam and countries in the region,” Ms. Hien shared.

The collaborative efforts between Vietnam SuperPort™ and its strategic partners represent a significant step forward in boosting Vietnam's logistics and transportation capabilities. By leveraging the expertise of key partners, the project aims to enhance Vietnam's position as a crucial hub in regional and global supply chains, thereby contributing to economic growth and improving the country's international competitiveness.
