139 communes and wards are at risk of flash floods and landslides due to the circulation of storm No. 7.

Forecast of circulation after storm No. 7 causing rain in the North from the afternoon of September 9. Source of storm location: Vietnam Natural Disaster Monitoring System

After moving deep into the mainland of Guangdong province (China), storm No. 7 has reduced its intensity to about level 8. However, the circulation and far edge of the storm have affected Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang with thunderstorms, while increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides in many northern mountainous provinces.

According to the reporter's records, at dawn, there was heavy rain in the Lang Son area. At around 6am, although the rain had stopped, the weather was still cloudy, with a high risk of rain.

According to forecasts, from the afternoon of September 10, the rain will spread to many localities as the storm circulation continues to weaken and move inland in a West-Northwest direction. The rain is expected to last until the night of September 11, concentrated in the mountainous and midland areas of the North, with rainfall in some places possibly exceeding 300mm.

Prolonged heavy rain poses a risk of landslides on steep slopes and hills and flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.

On the morning of September 9, Lang Son Province's Hydrometeorological Station informed that the influence of the northern edge of the tropical convergence zone caused showers and thunderstorms in the area, with heavy rain in some areas.

On the same day, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued consecutive warning bulletins.

According to the meteorological agency, the risk level of natural disasters caused by flash floods and landslides during this period is determined at level 1, but can still cause very negative impacts: threatening lives, destroying civil works, causing traffic jams and causing great damage to production and socio- economy .

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting recommends that localities urgently review vulnerable points and high-risk areas and prepare plans to evacuate people when necessary.
