On December 8, Vietnam Waste Solutions Company Limited (VWS) - the management unit of Da Phuoc landfill sent a document to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City (NN-MT) reporting on the change of time for receiving and processing waste from December 1 at the Da Phuoc Waste Treatment Complex.
According to VWS, previously, the volume of waste delivered by Ho Chi Minh City to Da Phuoc landfill had a capacity of less than 4,000 tons/day, so VWS only operated 24/7. Later, the City delivered more with a volume exceeding 5,000 tons/day and night. Therefore, VWS adjusted the receiving plan and organized overtime to operate 24/7 to avoid traffic congestion and help garbage trucks make 2-3 trips per day.
However, since the beginning of 2025, the City has reduced the delivery volume to only about 4,000 tons/day as in the initial phase. Meanwhile, Da Phuoc landfill is still operating 24/24, leading to increased costs, inefficiency in both labor and machinery, forcing VWS to be unable to continue. Therefore, VWS has repeatedly sent documents to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment about changing the receiving time from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. every day, starting from December 1. The change in the garbage receiving time was known in advance by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment and there was a roadmap and plan prepared.
"All waste reception and treatment activities after the adjustment period from December 1st to now are taking place smoothly and operating stably. VWS is always ready to accompany and coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment in receiving and treating waste during peak or difficult times when the City has a written request," VWS affirmed.
