Surprises in the finals of the national student basketball tournament.

The 2023 National University Basketball Championship finals are currently underway at the Hanoi University of Education Gymnasium, filled with excitement and suspense. A surprise occurred early on when the defending men's champions, RMIT University, lost to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education on December 5th.

The men's team from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (in red jerseys) defeated the defending champions, RMIT University.

Having never lost to their opponent in their two previous encounters at the national student tournament, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education team showcased their collective strength, tenacious defense, and effective scoring in the final minutes to secure a nail-biting 47-45 victory. The turning point that led to this spectacular win for the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education team against the defending champions was a run of 10 points at the end of the match.

The reigning champions of the RMIT National Collegiate Basketball Tournament suffered a surprising defeat.

In the women's competition, defending champions Ton Duc Thang University asserted their dominance with a decisive 68-33 victory over Hanoi Foreign Trade University. Despite their opponent being the runner-up in the Northern regional qualifiers, talented shooters from Ton Duc Thang University, such as Phan Hoang Tuyet Minh and Hoa Phan Thanh Vy, demonstrated impressive scoring prowess.

The Hanoi National University women's team wins against the Da Nang University team.

At the end of the matchday on December 5th, the first team to advance to the semi-finals was the men's team from Da Nang University, after two victories against the Foreign Trade University team and the Hoa Sen University team.
