Having never lost to their opponent in their two previous encounters at the national student tournament, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education team showcased their collective strength, tenacious defense, and effective scoring in the final minutes to secure a nail-biting 47-45 victory. The turning point that led to this spectacular win for the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education team against the defending champions was a run of 10 points at the end of the match.
The reigning champions of the RMIT National Collegiate Basketball Tournament suffered a surprising defeat.
In the women's competition, defending champions Ton Duc Thang University asserted their dominance with a decisive 68-33 victory over Hanoi Foreign Trade University. Despite their opponent being the runner-up in the Northern regional qualifiers, talented shooters from Ton Duc Thang University, such as Phan Hoang Tuyet Minh and Hoa Phan Thanh Vy, demonstrated impressive scoring prowess.

At the end of the matchday on December 5th, the first team to advance to the semi-finals was the men's team from Da Nang University, after two victories against the Foreign Trade University team and the Hoa Sen University team.
