The impressive achievements not only demonstrate careful preparation and determination, but also the outstanding abilities of the contestants and the passion for learning foreign languages of the young generation of Lao Cai . Through this, they have contributed to highlighting the efforts to preserve and promote the Vietnam-China friendship through language and cultural exchange.

After many appointments, I finally had the opportunity to talk with two talented contestants of the contest. Nguyen Thi Phuong and Thao Thi Bau are currently students majoring in Chinese Language, Thai Nguyen University Branch in Lao Cai Province. When asked about the National Chinese Speaking Contest - Da Nang 2025, the two female students were very excited.
"Being chosen as representatives of the province to participate in the contest, we felt quite pressured. However, with the encouragement of the aunts and uncles from the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations and teachers and friends, we confidently accepted the task" - Nguyen Thi Phuong shared.
To have a quality essay at the contest, the two students researched and consulted with teachers to create a speech on the topic "Strengthening humanistic exchanges, tightening Vietnam - China friendship". The speech included vivid evidence of the friendly relationship between Vietnam - China in general, Lao Cai province and Yunnan province in particular in various fields.
Thao Thi Bau said: The contest is not only an academic playground, but also helps the young generation understand more deeply about traditional friendship, contributing to fostering the relationship of "both comrades and brothers" between the two peoples and two countries. Therefore, when standing on the stage in Da Nang to perform our performance, we feel very honored, proud and try our best to perform."
Sharing the secret to learning Chinese effectively, the two students said that the "golden key" that helped them shine on the debate stage was their love for foreign languages from the very beginning and the process of diligent and relentless study.

Phuong shared: "Learning Chinese is not too difficult, but it requires diligence and determination to get good results. For example, when learning words, you must combine sentences and use words in paragraphs to avoid forgetting quickly and misunderstanding the context. Every day, you need to practice speaking and create a Chinese environment to avoid being lazy to speak, leading to shyness and fear of speaking."
Every day, Phuong often practices speaking in front of the mirror, records her speech and listens to it again to correct her pronunciation and intonation. In addition, both of them maintain the habit of watching Chinese news, listening to podcasts, watching movies and analyzing the dialogue, and chatting with friends in Chinese every day.
In addition to Chinese language skills, to win the competition, the girls believe that stage presence and eloquence are also very important. Therefore, to prepare for the competition, the young girls focused on practicing their speaking skills and expressing emotions to convince the judges. Fluent speaking skills are not enough, both spent a lot of time practicing facial expressions, handling situations on stage, conveying emotions through voice, emphasizing and mastering body language.
Along with that, the students also did in-depth research on the culture and relations between Vietnam and China, read many documents on the history of cultural exchange, friendly relations, as well as current cooperation activities between the two countries. This helped the presentation not only be fluent in language but also profound in content.

With careful preparation, after 6 minutes of speaking, with a score of 100, Nguyen Thi Phuong and Thao Thi Bau won almost absolute points. After the speaking part, out of 25 teams, the jury selected 9 teams to enter the live Q&A session in Chinese. With their language ability and understanding of diplomacy, politics and society, the two contestants from Lao Cai excellently won first place in the competition.
"As a child of the border region, I am very proud to have contributed a small part to deepening the friendly relationship between the two countries and two localities of Lao Cai and Yunnan" - Thao Thi Bau said.
Teacher Le Phu Tuan - lecturer of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences, Thai Nguyen University Branch in Lao Cai province - who directly guided Phuong and Bau to prepare for the competition shared: The two students have excellent academic achievements in Chinese and have a very high sense of responsibility for the assigned tasks. In 2024, at the province's Chinese speaking contest, they won third prize, this year also at this contest, they won second prize and were one of two teams selected to compete nationwide. The national first prize is a well-deserved reward for their efforts."

Ms. Vu Thi Hang - Vice President of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations said: Through the contest, the organizing committee wishes to contribute to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries, enhancing understanding and exchange between the Vietnamese and Chinese people, especially among the young generation. Participating in the contest, the Lao Cai delegation brought unique colors to express the friendship between Vietnam and China in general, and Lao Cai in particular. Thereby, affirming the role and mission of the young generation in continuing, nurturing and developing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China to continuously bear fruit.
The National Chinese Speaking Competition - Da Nang 2025 is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China and the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year, creating opportunities to enhance cultural exchanges and the spirit of friendship between the two peoples. The outstanding achievements of Nguyen Thi Phuong and Thao Thi Bau not only bring pride, but also serve as a strong inspiration for young people in learning foreign languages.
The National Chinese Speaking Contest - Da Nang 2025 was held on November 15 at Duy Tan University (Da Nang), in coordination with the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City, the Vietnam - China Friendship Association of Da Nang City, the Chinese Consulate General in Da Nang and VTV8.
