The Ministry of Education and Training directs higher education institutions to ensure the quality of meals for students.

TPO - The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued a document requesting higher education institutions to strengthen inspection, examination and supervision in ensuring adequate quantity, quality of meals and food hygiene and safety for students.

Accordingly, the Ministry requested units to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement regulations on organizing the teaching of National Defense and Security Education; current documents and guidance documents of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health on ensuring meal quality and food hygiene and safety.

Facilities should promote the role and responsibility of heads ofeducational institutions, educational managers, lecturers, staff, and workers in organizing centralized meals and ensuring the quantity and quality of meals.

The Ministry of Education and Training requests that units organize centralized kitchens for students studying National Defense and Security Education strictly and in accordance with regulations; ensure correct and sufficient meal portions; public and transparent finances, no waste or loss; ensure food hygiene and safety.

The Ministry also requires schools to strengthen inspection, examination and supervision in ensuring adequate quantity and quality of meals and food hygiene and safety; promptly detect and handle violations.

Previously, students at Hanoi University of Science and Technology reported to the press that they had to eat leftover rice and soup at lunch during their National Defense and Security Education classes. Immediately after the incident, Hanoi University of Science and Technology stepped in and terminated the contract with the catering unit. The Ministry of Education and Training also issued a document requesting Hanoi University of Science and Technology to strictly handle the incident.
