At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Thanh Do gave an overview of the socio -economic development situation and the strengths and potential of Dien Bien province in various fields. In the first quarter of 2024, the province's GRDP is estimated to reach over 3,000 billion VND, an increase of more than 6% compared to the same period last year, ranking 4th out of 14 provinces in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region. Dien Bien province successfully organized many activities within the framework of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien and in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. In particular, the Dien Bien Airport has completed its upgrade and resumed operations, facilitating travel for tourists to Dien Bien; in the first quarter of 2024, the number of tourists visiting Dien Bien increased 1.46 times compared to the same period in 2023.
Representatives of the Association of Businesses in the Northwest Provinces congratulated Dien Bien Province on successfully organizing many important events within the framework of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 and in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. They also expressed that the rotating conference of the Council of Businesses in the Northwest Provinces, held in Dien Bien Province, is an opportunity for businesses to network, exchange, and learn from each other's experiences in developing production and business activities that suit the potential and strengths of the locality.
On this occasion, the Association of Businesses in the Northwest Provinces handed over two charitable houses, worth a total of 500 million VND, to two families receiving preferential treatment: Mr. Nguyen Hai Dang, a disabled veteran with 61% disability, residing in Group 4, Nam Thanh Ward (Dien Bien Phu City), and Ms. Lo Thi Huong, residing in Chieng Tong Hamlet, Thanh Yen Commune (Dien Bien District). The funding for the houses was provided by the Associations of Businesses in Son La, Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, and Lai Chau provinces.
Also this afternoon, a delegation from the Association of Businesses of the Northwestern Provinces visited and offered incense and laid wreaths at the A1 Martyrs' Cemetery.
