The "idol-following" wave is exploding.
In recent years, along with the focus on preserving traditional cultural values, the entertainment market has changed to adapt to the market economy . The "idol worship" craze has exploded, meaning the domestic entertainment market has given rise to a new generation of idols who have both risen in status and earned higher incomes.
If 1-2 years ago, young fans tried to go to countries like Korea, Japan, America... to see famous people, now the Vietnamese public has strongly shifted to "following" Vietnamese idols.
Hoang Thao Van, a student in the Accounting Department at the University of Economics and Business Administration (Thai Nguyen University), shared: "Previously, I was a huge fan of Blackpink because of their massive fanbase and immense popularity. When they came to Vietnam to perform, I had to hunt for tickets to see them and dreamed of having bands like them in Vietnam. In the last two years, through art competitions like 'Beautiful Sister Riding the Waves' and 'Brother Says Hi,' idols like Hieu Thu Hai, Quang Hung MasterD, Duong Domic, and Rhyder have emerged, showing that the potential of young Vietnamese singers and bands is not inferior to that of other countries if they receive the right investment."
As Hoàng Thảo Vân asserted, in a short period of time, many singers who participated in reality TV shows and music competitions suddenly rose to fame. These "guys" who emerged from these shows and concerts are increasingly in demand for performances, advertising contracts, and have packed schedules of reality shows...
Concert - opening the way for cultural industry development
| The "V Concert - Radiant Vietnam" program attracted tens of thousands of spectators. |
Since the beginning of August, ministries, departments, localities, and VTV have organized many key cultural and political events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd. A notable example is the art program "Homeland in Our Hearts," organized by the Nhan Dan Newspaper in collaboration with the Hanoi People's Committee.
"Homeland in My Heart" offers impressive musical experiences and awakens feelings of pride and sacredness about the homeland. Until now, only pop concerts and K-pop groups like Blackpink and "Brother Says Hi" could attract tens of thousands of spectators to stadiums. However, since the 50th anniversary of national reunification, many revolutionary and traditional music programs have also gained comparable appeal.
Many people were deeply moved when they saw 50,000 spectators, mostly young people, singing revolutionary songs at the "Homeland in My Heart" concert. Following national-level music events like this, Gen Z started using the term "national concert" to refer to these events and often encouraged each other to "attend national concerts."
Continuing the momentum and excitement of a previous grand music festival, Vietnam Television brings "V Concert - Radiant Vietnam" to audiences at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Dong Anh, Hanoi). The highlight of "V Concert - Radiant Vietnam" is the participation of artists such as Ha Anh Tuan, Ho Ngoc Ha, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Den, Hoa Minzy, Phuong My Chi, 2pillz... Artist Xuan Hinh is a special guest of the program.
Along with young audiences nationwide, many young people from Thai Nguyen attended the program. Ms. Pham Thi Oanh from Phan Dinh Phung ward and five friends had arranged to attend this event. Ms. Oanh excitedly said: "At 'V Concert - Radiant Vietnam,' in addition to watching famous artists perform, the audience also enjoyed a visually and aurally stunning experience thanks to the many modern technologies incorporated into the performance."
Following the success of “V Concert - Radiant Vietnam”, on the evening of August 10, Vietnam Television continued to organize “V Fest - Radiant Youth”. Over 25,000 audiences were captivated by the unique musical space, with popular songs in the program “V Fest - Radiant Youth”.
The three large-scale music events mentioned above attracted nearly 100,000 spectators to watch and cheer. This result shows that the cultural industry is becoming a trend and an important, sustainable component, contributing to economic growth and national brand positioning.
