The "Helping Children Move Forward" campaign, officially launched by Saigon Children's Charity (saigonchildren), aims to support children who have lost loved ones due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

V. - the little girl who sleeps in the market every night, dreaming of school.

After her grandmother passed away due to the pandemic, V. (from Ho Chi Minh City) was left with only her grandfather as her sole support. Since then, every night V. brings her blanket and pillow and sleeps in the middle of the wholesale market while waiting for her grandfather to finish work. Late at night, the two of them return to their small rented room.

Mr. V.'s job as a porter at the wholesale market only earns him 4-5 million VND per month, barely enough to cover food and rent, and his income hasn't increased in years. Despite the losses and hardships in his life, V. perseveres in attending school, achieving excellent academic results even though his illiterate grandfather cannot provide extra tutoring.

Support for children facing hardship after COVID-19.

In 2021, the "I'm Not Alone" campaign was launched through the collaboration of social organizations in Vietnam, including saigonchildren. The campaign provided both emergency and long-term support to disadvantaged children who lost a parent or primary caregiver due to COVID-19.

The pandemic is over, but the emotional trauma and economic hardship continue to weigh heavily on the lives of children like V. In response to this reality, saigonchildren has relaunched the "Helping Children Move Forward" campaign, focusing on supporting 41 of the most disadvantaged children following the "You Are Not Alone" campaign.

Practical support from the community is being delivered to children affected by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students selected for support in the "Helping You Move Forward" campaign will receive a scholarship package to help cover expenses such as tuition fees, textbooks, and uniforms. Depending on the case, additional support may include monthly rice rations, health insurance, bus fares, or other emergency expenses.

In addition to material support, saigonchildren places special emphasis on the holistic development of children. Each year, the organization strives to create opportunities for children to participate in skills training programs, psychological counseling, and learning, while also receiving timely support from a team of professional social workers.

The campaign is expected to alleviate past losses and ensure that the children do not miss out on opportunities for a brighter future.

Saigon Children's Charity CIO (or saigonchildren) is a UK-registered charity operating entirely in Vietnam in the field of education , with the mission of removing barriers to education for disadvantaged children. It operates with four main programs: Building schools in remote areas; Providing scholarships for disadvantaged children; Supporting young people in vocational training and skills development; and Special education for children with disabilities.
