On October 15, Mr. Le Dinh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Dak Lak province, said that starting from October 15, the unit will temporarily stop handling administrative procedures related to the issuance, re-issuance and issuance of new driving licenses. The Department of Transport will also temporarily stop receiving documents related to the procedures for issuing and exchanging motorcycle driving licenses (A1) from paper materials to PET materials.

In addition, the Dak Lak Department of Transport also temporarily suspended the remaining driving license exams in October 2024. These exams will be arranged in the following months of 2024.

According to Mr. Le Dinh Minh, the Department is in shortage of driver's license blanks. Meanwhile, through a review in September 2024, the unit found that the demand for issuing and renewing driver's licenses among local people has increased. Therefore, the Dak Lak Department of Transport has sent a document requesting the Vietnam Road Administration to issue additional driver's license blanks, but so far there have been none.

“Currently, the unit only has about 6,000 driver’s license blanks. This number is not enough to issue, renew, or reissue according to people’s needs. Therefore, we reserve the replacement for expired driver’s licenses,” Mr. Minh added.
