Offering incense to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed on Highway 71

HNN.VN - On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), on the morning of July 19, a delegation of the Military Region 4 Command led by Colonel Ngo Nam Cuong, Deputy Commander, offered incense to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives on Highway 71 at the Martyrs Memorial House in Sub-region 67, Phong Dien Ward. The delegation included Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, member of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; Colonel Phan Thang, member of the City Party Committee, Commander of the City Military Command and relatives of the martyrs' families.

In front of the heroic martyrs, in a respectful manner, the delegation of Military Region 4 Command, the City People's Committee, the Hue City Military Command and the martyrs' families respectfully offered flowers, incense and observed a moment of silence to commemorate and express gratitude for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation, the happiness of the people and the construction and protection of the Fatherland.

During the war against foreign invaders, Route 71 connecting the two localities of A Luoi and Phong Dien saw many fierce battles between our army and people and the enemy, causing many officers and soldiers to sacrifice; in particular, in October 2020, while on a rescue mission at Rao Trang 3 Hydropower Plant, 13 military and local officers heroically sacrificed their lives, including 11 military officers and 2 local officers. To pay tribute to the heroic martyrs, in 2023, the Military Region 4 Command and the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province (now Hue City) decided to build the Memorial House for Martyrs of Route 71 in Sub-region 67.

The sacrifice of the heroic martyrs has left great loss and infinite sorrow for the Fatherland, the army, their relatives and the people.

*On the same morning, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Cuu Ward coordinated with the Women's Union of the City Military Command and the Youth Union of the City Police Detention Camp to organize "Journey to the source".

Within the framework of the program, many meaningful and practical activities took place, including offering incense and flowers at the city's martyrs' cemetery; reviewing history at the historical site of Chin Ham...

On this occasion, the units presented 22 gifts to a number of policy families with difficult circumstances in An Cuu ward.
