Delegates attending the conference
According to the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, Vietnam currently has over 25 international border gates, more than 40 main border gates, and dozens of secondary border gates/openings. Many key border gates have been upgraded and modern customs clearance technologies have been applied.
Several logistics centers and cold storage facilities have been established in Lang Son, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Tay Ninh, An Giang , Gia Lai, etc. However, the border logistics system is not yet strong enough, is fragmented, and lacks multimodal connectivity.
Container trucks are lined up waiting for customs clearance at Moc Bai International Border Gate.
Many provinces have established border market systems to facilitate the exchange of goods and support the lives of residents. However, the infrastructure is not yet standardized, the scale is still small and fragmented, and many markets lack connections to supporting infrastructure such as warehouses and logistics.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Director of the Tay Ninh Department of Industry and Trade , Chau Thi Le, said that Tay Ninh province has outstanding potential in border economic development thanks to its strategic location bordering the Kingdom of Cambodia. In the first seven months of 2025, the import and export turnover of goods with Cambodia was over 2 billion USD, accounting for 11% of the province's total import and export value, an increase of 17% compared to the same period.
Deputy Director of Tay Ninh Department of Industry and Trade , Chau Thi Le, delivered a speech at the conference.
At the conference, experts from central ministries and agencies, associations, and businesses shared, exchanged, and comprehensively analyzed key issues in the development of Vietnam's border trade. In particular, delegates emphasized the importance of improving border gates, border markets, and logistics infrastructure as a foundation for shortening customs clearance times, reducing costs, and increasing the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods.
Business representatives delivered their remarks at the conference.
In addition, representatives from associations and businesses shared experiences on developing distribution systems in border areas and practical import-export activities. If Vietnam effectively utilizes its agricultural supply advantages and expands cross-border markets, it can not only solve the problem of finding outlets for farmers' produce but also create added value and promote sustainable development.
