On the evening of February 1, the 8th National Press Awards Ceremony for Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award) 2023 took place in Hanoi. Speaking at the award ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that in 2023 and more than half of the 13th National Congress term, despite facing many unprecedented difficulties and challenges, with high determination, great efforts, and drastic actions, the country has achieved important results in many fields, with many outstanding marks recognized by the people and highly appreciated by the international community.

According to the Prime Minister, the rich and vivid reality and good results of the cause of national construction and defense, and of Party building and rectification are valuable sources of material and unlimited inspiration for creating high-quality journalistic works.

The Prime Minister also affirmed that, through 8 times of organization, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award has affirmed its value, attractiveness and influence on the work of Party building, the political system and the building of cadres; at the same time, it affirms the profound political awareness, professional ethics and steadfast revolutionary heart of journalists nationwide.

According to the Prime Minister, this year's entries closely followed the guidelines and viewpoints on Party building work, vividly reflecting political activities within the Party, especially urgent emerging issues such as: building culture and ethics within the Party, fighting the fear of responsibility and fear of mistakes; at the same time encouraging and protecting dynamic, creative cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common good; fighting against corruption and negativity; refuting wrong and distorted viewpoints, protecting the Party's ideological foundation...

In addition, the works also propose solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, encourage spirit, and arouse the aspiration to develop the country quickly and sustainably.

Congratulating the 72 awarded works out of 2,216 entries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that these are works that are the crystallization of passion, intelligence, and courage, and at the same time demonstrate the creative work and exploration with sharp political thinking, professional conscience and social responsibility, with the noble love for the homeland and country of journalists.

According to the Prime Minister, 2024 is one of the decisive years in successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress with new opportunities, but also many difficulties and challenges.

Leaders and former leaders of the Party and State attended the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award ceremony in 2023.

"The proud 94-year history of our Party shows that we must pay special attention to and further promote the work of comprehensive Party building and rectification in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres," the Prime Minister emphasized, while noting the need to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the ideas and instructions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in his recent article commemorating the 94th anniversary of the Party's founding.

"With the motto of using beauty to eliminate ugliness, using positivity to push back negativity, I respectfully request that Party committees and organizations at all levels focus on leadership, direction, and create conditions for press agencies and reporters to focus on propagating and reflecting the Party's theoretical values ​​and innovative viewpoints and the determination to build a clean and strong Party," the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Head of Government also suggested that it is necessary to further increase articles about advanced models, good people, good deeds, exemplary individuals, new models, good and creative ways of doing things; to fight against and repel degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution", "self-transformation", and to prevent corruption, negativity and waste.

At the same time, we must fight against the distorted arguments and wrong viewpoints of hostile forces and reactionary organizations, firmly protect the Party's ideological foundation, and further enhance the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members.

Affirming that through 8 times of organization, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award has affirmed its prestige and position, the Prime Minister expressed his hope and belief that the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award will further promote the achieved results, continue to explore and innovate to increasingly spread the strong vitality and positive influence of the award, contributing to building and rectifying the Party, the political system, and building a clean and strong cadre team.
