Dien Bien: More than 83% of voters agree with the plan to arrange commune-level administrative units

Dien Bien TV - On the afternoon of April 22, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting in April 2025 to give opinions on the Project to reorganize commune-level administrative units in the province. Comrade Le Thanh Do, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Comrade Pham Duc Toan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Comrade Lo Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting were members of the Provincial People's Committee.

According to the draft Project on reorganizing commune-level administrative units in Dien Bien province, the number of commune-level administrative units after the reorganization is 45 units, a decrease of 84 units. Through a wide consultation with the people, more than 112,000 voters participated in giving opinions, reaching nearly 85% of the province's population. Of which, more than 83% of voters agreed and more than 1.5% of voters disagreed.

Delegates attending the meeting contributed their opinions to the summary report, received and explained people's opinions and focused on clarifying voters' disagreements about the location of the office, the name of the new commune-level administrative unit, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Thanh Do accepted the opinions of the delegates and at the same time suggested: The People's Committees of districts, towns and cities need to do a good job of propaganda, mobilization and persuasion of people to agree with the arrangement plan, name and location of the new commune People's Committee headquarters after the arrangement according to the principle of ensuring the most convenience for the people and creating room for socio -economic development for the new administrative unit.

Regarding the opinions of the people of some villages on local adjustment of administrative boundaries to suit living conditions and implementation of administrative procedures after the rearrangement, the province will conduct a comprehensive review and organize implementation after completing the plan for rearranging and reorganizing commune-level administrative units.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee proposed: From April 23 to 25, districts, towns and cities urgently organize meetings of People's Councils at all levels to approve and issue resolutions on plans to rearrange and reorganize commune-level administrative units and send them to the Provincial People's Committee through the Department of Home Affairs no later than noon on April 25 so that the Provincial People's Committee can report to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.

Immediately after this meeting, the Department of Home Affairs will complete the content of the plan and the proposal to arrange commune-level administrative units in Dien Bien province so that the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee can report to the Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on the morning of April 23./.
