Investigation into the case of 2.5 hectares of natural forest containing precious wood being cut down

(NLDO)- About 2.5 hectares of natural forest in Son Duong commune, Ha Long city ( Quang Ninh province) were cut down, including many precious trees.

On March 18, the leader of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ninh province confirmed that he had sent forces to coordinate with the Quang Ninh Provincial Police to collect evidence and investigate the case of natural forest being cut down in Son Duong commune, Ha Long city.

Initial information, the exploited forest area is about 2.55 hectares, is a naturally regenerated forest, the location has been assigned to Hoanh Bo Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. for management.

"According to the information we received, the Company is planning to renovate this area to plant large timber forests. However, the exploitation and harvesting of natural forests must be licensed by competent authorities. Currently, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police are investigating the case," said an officer of the Ha Long Forest Protection Department.

Previously, in mid-March 2025, the press agency discovered and reported that the natural forest area of Son Duong commune, Ha Long city showed signs of being cut down and transported outside by some people and vehicles.
