Thai businesses are seeking cooperation opportunities in Vietnam.

On July 16th, the "Thai Connect in Hung Yen 2025" program opened with the participation of more than 20 booths from Thai businesses, attracting a large number of local people to visit and experience consumer products, while also opening up opportunities to strengthen connections between the business communities of the two countries.

The program is an annual event organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in Vietnam in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local authorities. Its aim is to promote Thai products such as food, cosmetics, handicrafts, fashion, and healthcare products to Vietnamese consumers. This year, the program took place from July 16-20 in Hung Yen province.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, the Thai Ambassador to Vietnam, said that the difference between this year's "Connect Thailand" program and previous "Meet Thailand" events lies in the message and strategic direction that the two countries are pursuing. While "Meet Thailand" was simply an activity to promote and introduce Thailand and its culture, "Connect Thailand" emphasizes a deeper and more substantive connection, reflecting a new stage of development in bilateral relations after the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on May 16, 2025.

According to Ambassador Urawadee, the choice of the new name "Connecting Thailand" is perfectly aligned with the "Three Connections" strategy that both sides are promoting, which includes: connecting supply chains; connecting businesses and localities of the two countries; and connecting sustainable growth strategies, green growth, and the digital economy between the two countries. The Ambassador expects the event to contribute to promoting economic cooperation, connecting businesses of the two countries, and contributing to the goal of increasing bilateral trade to US$25 billion in the near future.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee, stated that Hung Yen province currently has over 25,000 operating businesses, 18 industrial parks, and one economic zone with a total area of ​​over 30,000 hectares, ready to welcome foreign investors. However, the scale of Thai investment in the province remains modest, indicating significant potential for cooperation between the two sides. He affirmed that Hung Yen province will continue to support and create a favorable environment for Thai businesses to confidently expand their investments and develop sustainably in the province.

Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), highly appreciated the proactive role and integration spirit of Hung Yen province. She stated that Hung Yen has potential for cooperation in areas such as green economy, digital economy, logistics, tourism, processing industry, and high technology. The event provided an opportunity for the two countries to share solutions and initiatives to overcome obstacles in cooperation, transforming challenges into driving forces for sustainable development. She affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue to create a transparent and open investment environment, promote administrative reforms, and support Thai businesses in operating effectively and sustainably in Vietnam.

Mr. Peethaphon Rattanachinda, Business Director of the Government Pharmaceutical Organization of Thailand (GPO), said that this is the first time GPO has participated in a trade promotion event in Vietnam. This is a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit under the Thai government, currently meeting about 60% of domestic drug needs and exporting to neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Laos, and Cambodia.

Assessing the Vietnamese market, Mr. Peethaphon believes that the young population and increasing demand for healthcare are favorable conditions for expanding cooperation. He expects that through the "Connecting Thailand" event, GPO will become more well-known in Hung Yen and other localities, thereby opening up concrete cooperation opportunities in the future.
