Online Conference of National Steering Committee 389

On the afternoon of April 21, Comrade Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 chaired an online conference of the National Steering Committee 389 to evaluate the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the first quarter of 2025, and deploy directions and tasks for the coming time.

Comrade Tran Bao Ha - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of the Customs Branch of Region XI chaired the Ha Tinh bridge.

Ha Tinh bridge attended the national online conference on anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the first quarter of 2025, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son.

In the first quarter of 2025, functional forces across the country arrested and handled nearly 30,700 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods; trade fraud, tax fraud; counterfeit goods, intellectual property violations, collecting nearly 4,617 billion VND to the state budget, an increase of 59% over the same period... Notably, in the first quarter, illegal transportation of prohibited goods with new methods and tricks emerged, causing many difficulties and challenges for functional forces in the work of inspection, control, and handling of violations.

Authorities arrested suspects in a drug trafficking case and seized tens of thousands of ecstasy pills, heroin, cash and many related items.

In Ha Tinh, in the first quarter of 2025, the authorities arrested and handled 253 cases of violations, transportation, and trading of prohibited, smuggled, and counterfeit goods, down 143% over the same period last year, with the value of the violated goods being 3.6 billion VND.... At the conference, delegates proposed many groups of solutions to effectively implement the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit, and prohibited goods in the coming time.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the authorities for promptly detecting, arresting and handling violations related to smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that counterfeit goods are a problem that directly affects people's health and is becoming more and more complicated, especially the situation of fake milk, fake medicine and the use of banned substances in food production.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son - Head of the National Steering Committee 389 chaired the first quarter 2025 meeting and deployed upcoming tasks on the prevention and combat of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

He requested the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities to continue to improve and to promote the role and responsibility of leaders, to correctly identify challenges and violations to have appropriate and effective measures to combat them; to strengthen inspection and supervision; to prevent and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the law, cover up and assist in smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and fake goods. To strengthen digital transformation, apply modern technology in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; to improve the capacity of forces performing tasks.

Comrade Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister, requested the Ministry of Justice to preside over the review of legal documents related to goods management and standards and regulations for product quality declaration; to build a coordination mechanism between the central steering committee and localities to ensure consistency and unity. To step up propaganda work, encourage people to participate in denouncing, detecting counterfeit, fake and banned goods and spreading examples of good people and good deeds in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
