More than 10,000 students in Nha Be participate in the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands"

On September 28, at Duong Van Duong High School, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, the Nha Be District Party Committee and People's Committee to successfully organize the final round of the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands".

Attending the event were comrades: Nguyen Thi Bach Mai, member of the City Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee; Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training; Colonel Le Van Tu, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command; Colonel Cao Xuan Quan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, Head of the Contest Organizing Committee; Nguyen Vo Quoc Cao, member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, Head of the Nha Be District Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee.

The contest "I love the sea and islands of my homeland" is divided into 2 rounds. Accordingly, round 1 takes place from September 16 to September 20 online with the participation of more than 10,000 candidates from 8 secondary schools in Nha Be district. In round 2 - the live final round, 100 candidates with the best results after round 1 compete according to the scenario of the Gameshow "Ring the Golden Bell" including the following competitions: going out to sea, overcoming waves, docking and setting up sovereignty markers. Students participate in answering multiple choice questions revolving around knowledge about Vietnam's sea and islands, the role of the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam Coast Guard, as well as regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, knowledge about local historical traditions, culture and geography.

In the final round, Phan Nguyen Nhu Quynh, a student of class 9A1, Phuoc Loc Secondary School, won the first prize. The organizing committee also awarded 9 second, third and consolation prizes to the excellent contestants.

On this occasion, the organizing committee of the contest awarded 15 bicycles and 60 scholarships (worth 1 million VND/scholarship) to disadvantaged students who have achieved excellent academic results in Nha Be district. These are activities within the program "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen" in 2024, jointly organized by the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission.
