
Many relics are ranked, restored and revived.
Thanh Hoa is a land of cultural sediments spanning thousands of years, with a rich system of tangible heritage. The whole province currently has 1,535 inventoried relics, of which 858 relics have been ranked, including 1 world heritage, 5 special national relics, 139 national relics and 713 provincial relics.
In the period of 2021 - 2025, the province has ranked 7 new provincial-level relics such as: Dong Kinh Communal House, Bac Son Party Cell Establishment Site, Doan Family Temple of Vietnam, Thai Uy Ly Thuong Kiet Temple, Nghia Ky Communal House, Tu Ma Hai Dao Temple, Con Temple.
The leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized that over the past 5 years, Thanh Hoa has prioritized focusing resources on special national relics and heritage sites of high value. The province's viewpoint is to preserve and promote, combined with tourism to create livelihoods and spread historical and cultural values to the community. Restoration work is carried out seriously, in accordance with regulations, minimizing the work of renovating and distorting relics.
The Provincial People's Committee has approved a plan to preserve, renovate and restore 104 relics in the 2022-2025 period; at the same time, agreed on investment policies for 200 relic restoration and embellishment projects (36 completed projects; 11 projects in progress; 44 newly started projects and dozens of projects in the investment preparation stage).
Some key projects have been invested in on a large scale, such as Lam Kinh Main Palace - completed in 2022 with an area of over 1,600 m²; the system of tombs, Nghi Mon, Dragon yard, Bach bridge, Nhu Ang lake... have been continuously restored since 1994 according to the project approved by the Government . Lam Kinh festival continues to be preserved, held annually and is an important cultural highlight of Thanh land.
“Lam Kinh is a large-scale and complex relic. Each restoration item is carefully assessed and consulted with scientists to ensure its originality. Thanks to that, the appearance of the relic is increasingly complete, attracting a large number of tourists every year,” said Ms. Bui Anh Tuyet, Deputy Head of Lam Kinh Relic Management Board.

At Ba Trieu relic site, Thanh Hoa Center for Historical Research and Heritage Conservation has implemented a Project to innovate management, exploitation and tourism development for the period 2021 - 2030, contributing to increasing the attraction and value of historical education.
Diversifying intangible heritage and spreading national cultural identity
In the period 2021 - 2025, Thanh Hoa has 17 intangible cultural heritages included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. To date, the whole province has 28 registered intangible heritages, ranging from festivals, folk performances to traditional arts and crafts.
Many unique forms such as Hat Sac Bua, Ba Trieu Festival, Mo Muong, Muong Xia Festival, Ho Song Ma, Dong Co Temple Festival, Nang Han Festival, Dao people's dancing festival, Xuong giao duyen, Kin Chieng Booc May... have become vivid cultural symbols in the community.
The inventory of intangible heritage has been completed 100% in 27/27 districts, towns and cities. Many activities of collecting, documenting, restoring traditional arts, weaving, making musical instruments, and folk performances have been carried out in mountainous localities such as Ba Thuoc, Quan Son, Lang Chanh, Ngoc Lac...
According to the Government's Program 1719, Thanh Hoa has stepped up support for artisans, built folk culture clubs, and restored traditional festivals of the Muong, Thai, Dao, Mong, etc., thereby contributing to preserving identity and developing community tourism.

Thanh Hoa Museum also innovated its activities according to the Project until 2030, increased the display, collected 1,540 new artifacts, and provided professional support to 18/18 museums and traditional rooms in the province. From 2022 to 2025, the Museum digitized 603 artifacts, expanding public access through digital platforms.
Mr. Trinh Dinh Duong, Director of Thanh Hoa Museum emphasized: “Digital transformation helps artifacts ‘live’ longer, reaching more young generations. By 2030, we will move towards building a virtual exhibition space and a digital learning model for students and visitors.”
Looking back at the period 2021 - 2025, Thanh Hoa's heritage conservation work has made a clear shift: relics have received synchronous investment; intangible heritage has been strongly recorded; restoration activities and community cultural teaching have been maintained; the museum system has transformed in a modern direction.
Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa affirmed that the province will continue to exploit resources, especially socialization and community resources, to build a sustainable cultural environment, making heritage tourism an important economic sector of Thanh Hoa.
These efforts are a solid premise for Thanh Hoa to implement the Cultural Development Strategy to 2030, aiming to turn heritage into a driving force for socio-economic development, while deeply preserving the national cultural identity in this land rich in tradition.
