In his opening remarks at the conference, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai stated that the post-Covid-19 impact, along with global political tensions, has affected Vietnam's import and export activities. Recognizing this, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been and continues to work alongside localities nationwide, particularly those in the Central and Central Highlands regions, to promote trade and support market development for local products, both domestically and internationally.

Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Le Quang Nam expressed confidence that with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, trade missions and trade promotion activities will help businesses in Central and Central Highlands regions find opportunities for cooperation and promote the export of their products through foreign distribution systems, thereby boosting import and export activities.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has directed the Trade Promotion Department to coordinate with units under the Ministry, cooperate closely with relevant agencies, organizations, and businesses, expand both traditional and modern distribution channels, actively consolidate and develop the domestic market, boost exports, and diversify export markets through various trade promotion activities organized regularly and continuously, such as business networking conferences, online and in-person trade fairs and exhibitions. This has created thousands of connections between Vietnamese businesses and foreign importers in key and potential export markets, contributing practically to overcoming difficulties for businesses, promoting export growth, and maintaining economic stability in the context of the pandemic.

In 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade assigned the Trade Promotion Department to coordinate with relevant units to successfully organize business networking programs between suppliers and export businesses, as well as trade promotion organizations in all three regions of Vietnam: North, Central, and South. The business networking program between suppliers in the Central and Central Highlands regions and export businesses and trade promotion organizations, held in Da Nang, helped businesses in the Central and Central Highlands regions connect, exchange information, and introduce their products directly to over 35,000 domestic and international visitors. According to Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai, leaders of provinces and cities highly appreciated the organizers' efforts in arranging the program to connect with distributors, export businesses, and especially with embassies and foreign trade promotion organizations. The Deputy Minister also added that, based on the results of recent trade promotion activities, the 2023 program connecting suppliers in the Central and Central Highlands regions with export businesses and trade promotion organizations is an important regional trade promotion activity, with the participation of most localities in the Central and Central Highlands regions. It will introduce typical products and products with export potential from the region to international trade promotion agencies, importers, Vietnamese processing and export buyers, as well as Vietnamese and international distributors. “The trade connection conference will also provide information and solutions to help businesses boost exports directly into foreign distribution networks and effectively participate in the global production value chain,” Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai informed.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Mr. Le Quang Nam, in the context of a challenging global economy and rising inflation, Vietnamese businesses in general, and import-export businesses in particular, are currently facing many difficulties in production, business, and finding partners and orders. “Organizing trade networking activities between suppliers in the Central and Central Highlands regions and export businesses, as well as trade promotion events in Da Nang from May 11-14, 2023, is extremely meaningful and practical,” said Mr. Le Quang Nam, adding that with the guidance and support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnamese trade offices in other countries, foreign trade promotion organizations in Vietnam, and agencies and units in the provinces and cities of the Central and Central Highlands regions, the conference, along with the series of trade networking activities organized in Da Nang, will contribute positively to helping businesses in the Central and Central Highlands regions in general, and Da Nang businesses in particular, find opportunities for cooperation and export promotion of their products through foreign distribution systems, thereby boosting import and export activities.

Following the conference, there will be a program of direct business networking between local businesses in the Central and Central Highlands regions and export businesses and trade promotion organizations.

In parallel with the Business Networking Conference, to enhance the effectiveness of business participation, from May 11-14, there will also be an exhibition showcasing typical and export-potential products from various localities at the East Bank of the Dragon Bridge, on the sidewalk opposite, next to the Han River. This aims to create favorable conditions for businesses to directly promote their products to domestic consumers and international tourists, access and understand consumer preferences, and thus plan production and business activities to adapt to market trends.

The main activities of the 2023 program connecting suppliers in the Central and Central Highlands regions with export businesses and trade promotion organizations are as follows:

May 11th: Business networking conference between suppliers in the Central and Central Highlands regions and export businesses and trade promotion organizations.
