International visitors to Vietnam can pay without exchanging cash.

(NLĐO) – Tourists from South Korea, China, Thailand, etc., can pay via the international version of the multi-purpose ZaloPay QR code without needing to convert to cash.

This information was shared by Ms. Le Lan Chi, General Director of Zalopay, at Zalopay Year End Fes 2024 (YEF24) - a series of digital payment events held on the morning of November 29th in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event will be held from November 28th to December 1st at Nguyen Hue Walking Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). A highlight is that all shopping and entertainment activities at the event will utilize cashless payment methods via QR codes, including the multi-purpose Zalopay QR and its two latest versions: the international multi-purpose Zalopay QR and Zalopay Box.

Also at this event, Zalopay introduced the international version of the multi-functional Zalopay QR code, in collaboration with UnionPay - an organization providing mobile and online payment services with global acceptance across 183 countries and regions.

Businesses and service providers can operate with just one versatile ZaloPay QR code to serve all payment needs of customers both domestically and internationally.

According to Ms. Le Lan Chi, through this cooperation, tourists visiting Vietnam can easily make payments without needing to convert cash, because the international version of the multi-purpose ZaloPay QR code accepts payments from all banking and e-wallet applications in Vietnam, as well as payment methods within the UnionPay ecosystem.

Specifically, international travelers can directly use the UnionPay app or more than 15 payment apps and banks that accept UnionPay card payments from 6 markets: South Korea (Naver Pay, BC Paybook), China (Bank of China, China Merchants Bank, Postal Savings Bank of China...), Hong Kong (BOC, LiVi Bank, Omycard, Octopus), Singapore (DBS Paylah, Nestia), Thailand (KPlus), and Laos (BCEL One).

"With this solution, businesses and service providers can operate easily, using just a single QR code to serve all payment needs of customers both domestically and internationally. Zalopay is working with other major international partners to expand the payment acceptance capabilities of the multi-purpose Zalopay QR code," Ms. Chi said.

It is estimated that the event attracted more than 7,000 visitors and shoppers on its opening day alone, including many international tourists.

Statistics from the beginning of 2024 to the present show that the total value of transactions via the ZaloPay multi-purpose QR code has increased 15 times compared to last year.

Zalopay YEF24 brings together more than 30 major brands that are partners of Zalopay in various fields such as NAPAS, CIMB Vietnam Bank, VinFast, MobiFone , DNSE Securities, VNGGames, FPT Shop, PNJ, MM Mega Market, Coca-Cola… There are nearly 100 Hello Weekend booths offering a variety of entertainment, shopping, and unique art activities for visitors.
