International visitors to Vietnam pay without exchanging cash

(NLDO) – Tourists from Korea, China, Thailand… can pay via the international multi-function Zalopay QR without having to convert cash.

This is the information shared by Ms. Le Lan Chi, General Director of Zalopay, at Zalopay Year End Fes 2024 (YEF24) - a series of digital payment events on the morning of November 29, in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event was held from November 28 to December 1, at Nguyen Hue Walking Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). The highlight is that all shopping and entertainment activities at the event apply cashless payment by QR code, including multi-function Zalopay QR and the two latest versions: international multi-function Zalopay QR and Zalopay Box.

Also at this event, Zalopay introduced the international version of the multi-function Zalopay QR, in cooperation with UnionPay - an organization that provides mobile and online payment services with global acceptance spanning 183 countries and regions.

Businesses and services can operate with just one multi-purpose Zalopay QR code to serve all payment needs of domestic and foreign customers.

According to Ms. Le Lan Chi, through this cooperation, tourists coming to Vietnam can easily pay without having to convert cash, because the international version of Zalopay QR multi-function accepts payments from all banking applications and e-wallets in Vietnam and payment methods in the UnionPay ecosystem.

Specifically, international visitors can directly use the UnionPay application or more than 15 payment applications and banks that accept UnionPay card payments from 6 markets: Korea (Naver Pay, BC Paybooc), China (Bank of China, China Merchants Bank, Postal Savings Bank of China...), Hong Kong (BOC, LiVi Bank, Omycard, Octopus), Singapore (DBS Paylah, Nestia), Thailand (KPlus) and Laos (BCEL One).

"With this solution, businesses and services can operate easily, only needing a single QR code to serve all payment needs of domestic and foreign customers. Zalopay is working with other major international partners to expand the payment acceptance of the multi-purpose Zalopay QR code," said Ms. Chi.

It is estimated that the event attracted more than 7,000 visitors and shoppers on the first day of opening, including many international tourists.

Statistics from the beginning of 2024 to present, the total transaction value via multi-function Zalopay QR recorded a 15-fold increase compared to last year.

Zalopay YEF24 brings together more than 30 major brands that are partners of Zalopay in many fields such as NAPAS, CIMB Bank Vietnam, VinFast, MobiFone , DNSE Securities, VNGGames, FPT Shop, PNJ, MM Mega Market, Coca-Cola... There are nearly 100 Hello Weekend booths serving a variety of unique entertainment, shopping, and art activities for visitors.
