On July 1st, the Lam Dong Provincial Police announced that the Investigation Agency of the Da Lat City Police had initiated a criminal case and indicted nine suspects in connection with an online football betting gambling operation.
Previously, the operational units of the Lam Dong Provincial Police implemented operational measures; strengthening prevention and combating crimes and violations of the law related to organizing gambling and gambling in the form of football betting during EURO 2024 and Copa America 2024. Through intelligence gathering, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (Lam Dong Provincial Police) discovered the activities of a suspected group involved in gambling and organizing gambling on the internet in Lam Dong province.
After a period of gathering documents and electronic data, and using professional methods, on June 23, 2024, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, in coordination with the Da Lat City Police, caught C.D.T (born in 1976, residing in Ward 3, Da Lat City) red-handed organizing online football betting. Through investigation and interrogation, T revealed that his football betting account was provided by PTHV (born in 1982, residing in Ward 7, Da Lat City), and that T directly provided accounts to four other individuals to organize football betting.
Based on the information gathered, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, in coordination with the Da Lat City Police, simultaneously deployed multiple task forces to summon and question five individuals involved in the football betting ring: PVQ (born in 1978, residing in Ward 12), PNBV (born in 1975, residing in Tram Hanh commune), PTHV (born in 1982, residing in Ward 7), LVD (born in 1966, residing in Ward 1), all in Da Lat city, and D.CC (born in 1984, residing in Duc Trong district). Through questioning, PTHV confessed that his administrator account was directly managed by an individual named MLTB, born in 1981, residing in Xuan Tho commune, Da Lat city.
Expanding the investigation, authorities determined that C.D.T also organized direct betting with NQT (born in 1964, residing in Ward 4) and PNBV organized direct betting with PQV (born in 1974, residing in Tram Hanh commune), both in Da Lat city. The aforementioned individuals were summoned for questioning to clarify their involvement in gambling in the form of football betting.
During the investigation, the suspects admitted to organizing and participating in gambling activities, specifically football betting, with transaction values exceeding 16 billion VND within a month. The police seized numerous items, including over 354 million VND in cash, 9 mobile phones, 2 laptops, and a desktop computer. The Da Lat City Police have initiated criminal proceedings, indicted 9 suspects, and are continuing to expand the investigation to identify other related individuals.
