The figure was published by Lostarmour.info, a website that tracks military casualties. The website has been documenting the Lancet suicide drone attacks based on visual evidence such as videos and photos since Russia began its special military operation in Ukraine. The rate of recorded Lancet strikes has increased significantly in the past few months.

ZALA Aero, a subsidiary of Russian defense giant Kalashnikov Concern, which develops the Lancet suicide drone, has released a video documenting notable attacks since May.

According to SF, in December 2023, Lancet suicide drones targeted 63 Ukrainian targets, in January 2024, there were 141 airstrikes, in February, there were 160 airstrikes, in March, there were 178 airstrikes, in April, there were 159 airstrikes, and in May, 302 targets were attacked.

According to a summary provided by ZALA Aero Company, Lancet suicide drone strikes have so far destroyed 225 self-propelled guns, 192 towed guns, 71 multiple rocket launchers, 176 main battle tanks, 103 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, 29 radars and 173 other military vehicles.

ZALA Aero produces two versions of the drone, the Izdeliye-52 with a 30-minute endurance and a 1-kg warhead, and the larger Izdeliye-51 with a 40-minute endurance and equipped with a 3-kg warhead.

Lancet suicide drones strike with precision, destroying equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Lancet suicide drone flies towards the designated area using an inertial navigation system with GLONASS support. Once in the area, the operator uses the onboard electro-optical system via a two-way data link to detect, track and lock on the target. A laser rangefinder then controls the detonation of the warhead.

The Lancet suicide drone's small radar cross-section and minimal infrared signature make it very difficult to detect and intercept.

So far, Ukrainian efforts to stop the Lancet with anti-aircraft fire, electronic warfare or countermeasures have been largely unsuccessful.
