Russia continues to launch attacks, Ukrainian forces in Kursk face difficulties

At a press conference on October 3, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Sever Group of Forces had inflicted losses on the 21st, 22nd and 115th Mechanized Brigades; 17th Tank Brigade; 82nd and 95th Airborne Assault Brigades; 1st National Guard Brigade; 36th Marine Brigade as well as the 129th Territorial Defense Brigade near the settlements of Daryino, Lyubimovka, Novy Put, Nikolayevo-Daryino and Plekhovo.

The Russian Defense Ministry also added that the group repelled two counterattacks on the Plekhovo settlement, resulting in 30 Ukrainian soldiers being killed or injured. In addition, the ministry reported that five attempts by Kiev forces to break through the Russian border near the Novy Put settlement were thwarted.

"The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to more than 60 casualties, three armored fighting vehicles and one motor vehicle were eliminated," the report said.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian airstrikes and artillery also hit concentrations of the 22nd, 41st, 61st and 115th Mechanized Brigades; the 17th Tank Brigade; the 80th and 95th Air Assault Brigades; the 1st National Guard Brigade; the 36th Marine Brigade as well as the 112th and 129th Territorial Defense Brigades.

Ukrainian military gatherings were also targeted near Bogdanovka, Daryino, Zeleny Shlyakh, Lyubimovka, Martynovka, Melovy, Nikolo-Daryino, Novoivanovka, Novy Put, Orlovka, Plekhovo, Pokrovsky, Russkoye Porechnoye, Sverdlikovo, Tolsty Lug, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye and Yuzhny.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian forces also carried out other airstrikes targeting the reserve forces of the 21st, 41st, 47th, and 115th Mechanized Brigades; the 1st National Guard Brigade; and the 101st and 103rd Territorial Defense Brigades of Ukraine.

The report added that Ukrainian forces' reserves were also affected in Ukraine's Sumy region, mainly near the settlements of Veliky Bobrik, Velikaya Chernetchina, Glukhov, Makeyevka, Obody, Pavlovka, Peremoga, Rechki, Sklyarovka, Studenok and Ulanovo.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost four armored fighting vehicles; six artillery pieces, including two US-made Paladin self-propelled artillery systems, one Swedish-made Archer self-propelled artillery system; three vehicles and more than 300 soldiers were killed," the Russian Defense Ministry detailed in the summary.

Russian media have also released videos showing several airstrikes targeting Kiev forces in Kursk and Sumy over the past few days.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the start of the battle for Kursk, Kiev forces have lost 19,850 troops, 135 tanks, 66 infantry fighting vehicles, 98 armored personnel carriers, 864 armored fighting vehicles, 577 motor vehicles, 162 guns, 33 launchers, nine air defense systems, five transport-loading vehicles, 40 electronic warfare stations, nine counter-battery radars, three airborne radars, 19 engineering vehicles.
