In the first match of Vietnamese badminton at the 33rd SEA Games on the morning of December 7, Nguyen Thuy Linh took to the field and did not disappoint the coaching staff or the fans. The Vietnamese player lost in the first set, but made a spectacular comeback against the number 1 player of the Malaysian women's team - Karupathevan Letshanaa (ranked 42nd in the world ).
Game 2 witnessed Nguyen Thuy Linh's overwhelming victory of 21/10. In game 3, the 1997-born player was behind at many points, but rose strongly in the final stage and won a thrilling 23/21, thereby defeating Letshanaa with a final score of 2-1.

The Vietnamese women's badminton team had a smooth start with an important victory, but still could not create a surprise against the Malaysian athletes. In the second match (continuing the women's singles), Vu Thi Trang faced Ling Ching Wong (the second strongest player of the Malaysian women's team, ranked 44th in the world). In the first game, Vu Thi Trang lost 14/21. In the second game, Nguyen Tien Minh's wife showed her mettle when she won a thrilling 22/20 victory, equalizing 1-1 and rekindling the hope of turning the tables. However, Vu Thi Trang lost 14/21 in the third game, having to accept the final defeat of 14/21 against Ling Ching Wong.
The third match of the women's badminton doubles event, when the pair Pham Thi Dieu Ly - Pham Thi Khanh faced Pearly Tan - Muralitharan Thinaah (number 2 in the world women's doubles rankings). Despite their best efforts, the two Vietnamese players were quickly defeated 0-2 (12/21, 8/21) by opponents of a superior level.

Bui Bich Phuong played against Zulaikha Siti in the next women's singles match. In the first set, Bich Phuong had a chance to win, but mistakes at the end of the match caused the Vietnamese player to lose 19/21. Bich Phuong once again lost narrowly 19/21 in the second set, accepting the final defeat 0-2.
Thus, the Vietnamese women's badminton team lost 1-3 to the Malaysian women's badminton team, thereby stopping at the 33rd SEA Games.
The women's badminton team event consists of 5 matches (3 singles, 2 doubles), in the following order: singles, singles, doubles, singles, doubles. Accordingly, the team that wins 3 matches first will win the overall match. According to the coaching staff's arrangement, Nguyen Thuy Linh and Vu Thi Trang will continue to compete in the last women's doubles match. However, these two players did not have the opportunity to play.
